API in Rome, Italy: LdM Semester/Year
Lorenzo de’ Medici – The Italian International Institute (LdM) has been welcoming students at its Florence campus for over 30 years, and has expanded its expertise and curriculum into Rome. The newly renovated and redesigned LdM Rome facilities are conveniently located in the historic center of Rome. Many of Rome’s most famous sites such as the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps are within walking distance. A variety of courses are available in Italian language, liberal arts, studio arts, and social sciences.
This program is designed for students interested studying abroad in Rome who wish to select courses from a wide variety of disciplines with less emphasis on Italian language. All students must take at least one Italian language course per semester. Italian language courses are taught at all levels (beginning through advanced), while most other courses are taught in English.
API students also have the opportunity to earn valuable credits through real-world internships in Rome with LdM! Italy is known for its artisan and small business structure that offers amazing opportunities for first-hand experience and interaction with local business owners to learn about the strengths and structure of the Italian workplace.
Students earn 3 credits for an internship, which is counted toward their total academic load for the semester, and appears on the academic transcript along with a pass/fail notation. Students are assessed based on a weekly internship journal, a minimum of two papers, and an evaluation by their academic advisor/tutor at LdM. Internship options are listed on the API/LdM course schedules on the website, and subjects may include:
- Art History/Museum Studies
- Business Internship
- Fashion Marketing/Retail Management and Merchandising
- Sport Marketing and Communications
