This Opportunity


WSP is currently initiating a search for a Lead Tunnel Engineer for our Los Angeles, California office.  Be involved in projects with our Geotechnical & Tunneling National Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. 
 


Your Impact



  • Lead tunnel & shaft design on major underground projects involving TBM tunneling, underground structure design and construction 

  • Perform engineering analysis for design of tunnels in soft ground, mixed conditions, and rock using various tunnel construction methods such as TBM, SEM, including temporary/initial support and final lining

  • Perform numerical analysis using FLAC/FLAC3D, PLAXIS/PLAXIS 3D or other software such as Visual Modflow

  • Interpret geotechnical and geological data, characterize ground conditions and derive engineering parameters.

  • Prepare GBR, GDR, and various design memos

  • Prepare contract Documents including drawings and specifications.

  • Coordinate with other disciplines and clients


Who You Are


Required Qualifications



  • 7-10 years of relevant experience in geotechnical, tunneling and structural engineering

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering (Preferred M.S.in Geotechnical or Structural Engineering)

  • Professional Engineer registration in California

  • Proven experience in design and analysis of tunnels and shafts under seismic loadings

  • Knowledge with tunneling/structural/geotechnical software (Plaxis, FLAC, ADINA, RS2/3, etc.)

  • Practical experience in preparing contract drawings, specifications and cost estimates of tunnel projects

  • Ability and willingness for travel, field work, and work at project site

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Compensation:


Expected Salary (all locations): $140,000 - $160,000


WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
