NCSU Reedy Creek Equine Farm is a 250 acre facility that is a unique collaboration between the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and College of Veterinary Medicine. The farm houses 50-90 horses which are part of university equine herd, as well as client horses for the theriogenology clinical service. Reedy Creek Equine Farm provides support to meet the teaching, research, and extension mission of the university. We currently have openings for part-time student positions.

Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Assist personnel as needed.
- Assisting with training foals, weanlings, and yearlings.
- Assist with foaling and breeding mares.
- Assist with daily care of horses including grooming, performing physical exams, transporting
- Assist with physical exams and sample collections.
- Restrain equines as required for attending veterinarians, farrier, etc.
- Assist in preparing for Animal Science and College of Veterinary Medicine teaching laboratories and assist in laboratories as needed.
- Administer medications as instructed.
- Feed and water horses accurately observing all feeding and watering instructions.
- Observe feed to ensure freshness and monitor for foreign objects or unwanted ingredients.
- Observe equine appearance and behavior and report subtle differences, abnormalities, injuries or illnesses to appropriate personnel.
- Clean, sanitize and maintain facilities.
- Participate in maintaining disease prevention in biosecurity animal holding areas.
- General upkeep and repair of animal housing areas and facility which includes a variety of buildings, barns and enclosures.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience working with horses and ability to safely work in animal areas and recognize sick or injured animals.
- Experience to safely catch, lead and restrain horses.
- Skill to communicate clearly, effectively and professionally orally and in writing.
- Skill to interpret and understand farm practices as well as all procedures, manuals, safety regulations, directives, and other work related documents.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs with

Preferred Qualifications:
- Drivers License
- Experience to operate and use vehicles and equipment including farm equipment (e.g. different types of tractors and attachments), full size pickup truck, etc.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools and landscaping equipment.
- Ability to perform minor repair work (e.g. fix fencing, watering devices, feeders, etc.).
