Pros: Awesome guy, loves football and teaches with a passion for geology. Even makes people consider the major. Test's couldn't be more fair, flew through them all. You get a choice of not showing up at all and reading the Dr Suess level book or attend class and toss the book. Only a few questions on the tests are not in the book. Extra credit for showing up and having your iclicker to take the 2 class questions. More extra credit for answering them right.
Cons: Easy to fall asleep. Low lights + comfy chairs everyone passes out.
I'd take him again if I could.

Referring to the overall Geology103 course, if the subject of geology is not something that interests you at all I do not recomment taking this course. I'm not saying this because I'm trying to say it's a really hard class, because it really is not all that difficult at all; I'm saying that I do not recommend taking this course unless it interests you because I have come to realize that most of the science classes that are offered here at WVU can be mcuch more difficult to learn and understand if the course is something that you find to be boring and/or pointless. However if you are interested in Geology or even if you do not have an option and you must take Geology103, I completely recommend Dr. Joe as an instructor. He is a very nice guy and he will do what he can to help you to better understand something if you're having any trouble. He is very well educated on the subject of Geologu. The only complaint that I have about his class are the slide shows that he shows and goes over every day in class. In a way it is almost "implied" that the exam questions will come from information within the slides and although the slides are full of great information, the exam questions do NOT come only from the slide shows. The book for this class is an absolute must. I can promise you that you will do much better on Dr. Joes' exams if you study the slideshows and the chapters in the book as well.
