As a lifeguard, you must possess the following skills:
Comfort in and around open water with basic safety knowledge
Comfort in deep water and basic proficiency in watercraft use (surfboard, paddleboard, kayak)
Ability to pass a lifeguard prerequisite exam (550-meter open water swim, 2-minute tread water without using hands, etc.)
Previous experience working with or teaching children is preferred
Red Cross Certification or WSI certification is a plus but not required
Must be 18 years old or older
