Personal Statement

I began tutoring in the Fall of 2017 at St. Martin De Porres Academy in New Haven, helping low-income students complete their homework and college applications. Worked on doing the fine points of editing an essay. Made helpful suggestions and helped my son make it more concise. Would use again for help with constructing and editing essay.

Very patient, thorough and established an easy rapport with my son which ensured a willing student. They had a match which gave him a baseline for his knowledge level and helped transition into the lesson plan.

Philip was extremely helpful. He looked at my paper before we met so he was ready to help me right away. Being a student at Yale and having a natural passion for education, Philip has such a wealth of knowledge and an incredible skillset. He knows how to write and how to really help your paper. This was my first time finding a tutor on Wyzant, and I was just afraid my tutor wouldn?t be able to help me or just wouldn?t know what my paper was about but thankfully Philip was excellent! Would definitely recommend. Being a college student, he?s super chill and easy to relate too which always makes tutoring a lot better.

Philip is a great balance of professional, knowledgeable, and easy-going. Great sense of humor too! As a college student, he really connects with my high school aged son (who might be turned off by an older tutor).
