In this lesson, Malone and I discussed how to measure the figure using both head lengths and head widths. This helped me accurately proportion the figure, especially when it came to proportioning the top half of the body compared to the bottom half. It was a great lesson !

In this lesson, Malone and I discussed proportions further. He explained the importance of boney landmarks when it comes to accurately proportioning the human figure. After that, we discussed capturing gesture. We went over the line of action. We used references of the human figure and he explained the line of action, the sweeps of different parts of the figures, and how to build on top of that using both basic forms and organic ones. This lesson was great, it helped me understand why I struggled with certain things while drawing the figure. Now, I already see a difference in my figure drawing. They are more fluid and not as stiff. I?m happy to be making progress! It?s all thanks to Malone?s teachings, he has really helped me a lot. A really good teacher.

Today, Malone began helping me understand the basic construction of the figure. We mainly focused on the torso in both the front and rear view, as well as in a foreshortened form. Before today?s lesson, Malone had given me advice on how to correct my mistakes when it came to drawing in proportion, which I then took another go at and did much better than the first attempt. Malone is an instructor who breaks things down and makes them easy to understand. From today?s lesson alone, I have a much better concept of the basic structure of the human figure than I?ve personally ever had. Malone has been a wonderful instructor to work with so far. I can?t wait to progress even further on the next lesson.

Malone is a very thorough instructor who helped me understand the importance of the basics of shapes and forms, as well as putting them into perspective. It was a wonderful lesson, as he made everything easy to understand and also implemented how to apply the forms to construct the human figure. I really look forward to future lessons !

Malone taught me how to use certain techniques to apply to artwork, particularly my drawings. The lesson was easy to understand and I was surprised how Malone was able to cover so much information into one lesson. I am excited to see how much my understanding of drawing techniques better will help me to improve my portfolio. Malone is definitely the perfect art teacher for me and I would recommend him 100 percent to anyone, whether or not they are a beginner.

Malone worked with my teen daughter. Very patient and explained so much to her in a way she could understand and then attempt on her own with positive support.

I have had two lessons with Mr. Malone, and I have been very impressed with both his work and his teaching style. He makes sure things are clear for you. I have learned more in two lessons than I thought I would. I'm confident that my skills will get much better as I work with him. I definitely recommend him.

This was my daughter's first art lesson with Mr. S. She has no art background and is truly starting from scratch. Mr. S. has a great attitude about beginners. For a man who has taught this material thousands of times, he worked with my daughter with freshness and enthusiasm. My daughter really liked the pace, format and encouragement. She has practiced what she learned each day since the lesson and I can already see some confidence forming.

He provides very good instruction, and makes sure to fill each session with profound artistic knowledge. For the first few lessons he informs you of what you will need for the next coming sessions, and you are taught the basic foundations of drawing. He teaches the six principles of design, and you are given some sort of assignment to do on your own by the next session. You will immediately notice an enhancement in your artistic skill after your first few lessons.

Mr. Malone has been teaching my daughter about 2 years, and she enjoys every single class. Unfortunately, she is getting busier with her school work and she has to give up the class now. Mr. Malone is really very professional with great patience, he is one of the most wonderful tutors we have met!
- Demin H. from Colleyville, TX
My wife and I had our first drawing lesson from Malone today. Although my wife has some experience with drawing and painting, I am a novice. Malone is starting us at the beginning and teaching basic concepts upon which we can develop our own interests. My wife is wanting to paint in oil and I am interested in pen and ink sketching and watercolors. Malone clearly has an extensive background in multiple areas of drawing, sketching, painting and the basics of Renaissance art and its artists. We both enjoyed his bringing into the lesson the methods used in past and how the most famous early artists developed their skills. We are both eagerly anticipating our next lesson!

My first lesson with Mr. S was incredibly detailed and informative. He taught me methods that were both detailed and practical. Not only did he teach me these methods, he also made sure to break them down so a novice like myself would be able to understand these techniques. Mr. S went into great detail about the basics of drawing, such as how to draw lines, 2D shapes, and 3D shapes. He even taught me the proper way to hold the drawing utensil. In conclusion, I am very satisfied with Mr. S and his tutoring, and I am especially pleased with the fact that he will continue to teach me in the coming weeks. Thanks Mr. S!

I've only had two lessons thus far, but Mr. S has already opened my eyes to things that I'd never considered artistically. He has listened to my needs and adjusted my classes accordingly. He's respectful and understanding of my time restraints while still giving me the maximum training based on my schedule. Thanks!

For the past few weeks now, Mr. Malone has been giving me lessons in anatomy, value, rendering, perspective, and he has also been helping me build my portfolio for entry into an art school. I am extremely impressed by his body of work and experience, and I can hardly find the words to express how grateful I am to have the chance to work with an artist such as himself. It's been a truly invigorating experience, and has helped rekindle my passion for drawing, painting, and art in general. For the line of work I'm interested in going into (animation/game art), he's the perfect fit for my needs as a growing artist. For anyone interested in finding a teacher who will sit down with you one-on-one, and very patiently explain everything from the basics to refined technique and practice, and also if you just want a highly experienced mind to pick for advice, I strongly recommend Mr. Malone S. You will not regret it.

We had our first lesson with Mr. Malone last Friday and I can't say enough how lucky I feel to find such a wonderful Art teacher for my 13 yrs. old son. I've never seen anyone so professional, patient and dedicated to his job and students before. My son was amazed by knowledge, respect and quality of teaching provided by Mr. Malone. We are definitely going to continue taking our Art lessons and Mr. Malone is highly recommended as a rare treasure in our area for everyone who is interested in Art and quality education. Thank you again, Mr. Malone!

Mr. S. has a fantastic method of laying a solid foundational approach to drawing. I have taken classes over the years and read several books but his approach has been more helpful in a single session than all the other information combined from my past. He was able to simply break down the basic concepts of drawing in a way that I could easily apply it and understand it. Highly recommended!

Why a fabulous artist like Malone S. is giving lessons is a mystery to me, however, I can only be grateful he does. I knew I wanted him as a teacher as soon as I saw his work, which is a reflection of the way I wish I could paint. He has an expert's thorough knowledge of his subject and is delighted to share this knowledge with the student. His manner is pleasant, low-key and patient, yet the lesson was fascinating, peppered with stories of how the masters and his fellow artists handled particular subjects. The DFW area is lucky to have this one!
- Nancy W. from Fort Worth, TX
Malone is very experienced and he really seems to know what he's talking about. He moves quickly but covers everything thoroughly. He has a very methodical approach. My son really likes the way he breaks things down and makes complicated concepts very easy to understand. He is looking forward to his next lessons and excited about what he's learning. Malone brings a wealth of knowledge with everything he presents and is not only an excellent teacher of art but an overall brilliant man with a pleasant demeanor.

5-12-13 Malone was great today, I had painted a pear for my homework assignment and thought it was pretty good. He then painted a pear in 20 minutes that looked so beautiful and real that you just wanted to pick it up and eat it, it was that good! I showed it to my wife and she couldn't believe how awesome it was! If someone wants to learn drawing and painting, Malone is the best around!

7/18/2012 - I had my 3rd working lesson with Malone, yesterday, and this was the best yet! I had homework to complete - I made three sketches and Malone worked with me on all three of them, giving me excellent and well thought out feedback. He has a way with both verbal and drawing communication which I find refreshing. He is very encouraging and positive in his feedback. What I liked was that he redrew my sketch in his style and method immediately under mine, which I think is an excellent approach! We talked for almost the entire lesson on that one sketch! But he still took time to work on the other two sketches as well as reintroducing the concept of shadows using a lamp and ball. For about 2 years, I was unable to draw - and I don't know why. But after a few weeks, Malone has helped me get excited again about my art. I look forward to our next lesson! I would recommend Malone to any who has an interest in learning art, or who wants to improve their skills. His holistic approach is excellent! 7/2/2012 - My first session with Malone was last week, when he and I sat and talked for 2 hours. He wanted to get to know me and discuss his teaching philosophy, my goals and objectives, interests and background. I felt that this was a great way to start and I appreciated this comfortable approach. He put me at ease with his personality and demeanor. Yesterday was our first working session and I was very comfortable with his teaching style and enthusiasm! We covered a lot of material - he had handouts, and clearly demonstrated everything. He referred to the old masters and their styles throughout the lesson, which helped bring the concepts together and piqued my interest in art history. He was slow and methodical as we covered the basics, but the lesson moved at a good pace. There was a good deal of interaction which I was comfortable with. I think we can all remember classes where the teacher stood and lectured for the whole period - Malone is not like that. We discussed the concepts of line, shapes, movement, etc. All in all this was the most enjoyable and educational art class I have ever taken. I look forward future classes. He has put a charge in me that had been lacking for years. I would recommend Malone to anyone who wants to be a better artist.
