My son of 9 years old had a difficult time reaching 6th position, holding his horn up properly for long periods, and maintaining good embouchure, but with Laura's instruction he's been able to work through these pain points. Her teaching style is very balanced as she provides tender but also firm guidance! As a result my son is sight reading, tonging his notes, and no longer puffing his cheeks while playing! As an advanced high-school trombonist who has been selected for numerous all-county and all-state bands as well as the straight-superior earning premiere concert and jazz bands and the bronze medal state-finalist marching band at my high school, my technique and fundamental skills on the trombone have greatly improved and I?ve already started to experience less performance anxiety and imposter syndrome. Since I started taking lessons with Laura, I feel more confident and prepared for the college audition process. I also worked on my solo with her for solo/ensemble and with the help of her intelligent/thoughtful feedback and going out of her way to find resources to help improve the problem areas in my piece, I received a straight superior!!! Laura is SUPER sweet. She always wants to know how my concerts, competitions, and other various gigs that I perform at went, in addition to putting me in touch with her former colleagues who would be able to further my aspirations for a career in the music industry. She truly has the heart of a teacher, genuinely cares about her students, and always wants to see them succeed.

Laura is such an excellent tutor! She is extremely knowledgeable and is always so kind and patient with our 9 year-old. She definitely has the right skills and demeanor to teach beginning learners! She seems truly committed to helping our son have a good experience learning the trombone! She is also extremely conscientious. For example, she has gone out of her way to find learning materials that are just right for his stage of learning and she sends really helpful and thoughtful feedback at the end of the lessons.
