Personal Statement

I have a double major in Economics and Statistics, and a minor in Mathematics from UC Berkeley. I've had over 10 years' experience working with college students and very much enjoy working in the subjects I tutor.

I've received and eventually provided extensive training and tutoring at UC Berkeley for the Athletic Study Center (located at the Caesar Chavez building) from 2008 until 2011. My perspective of education is complemented from being a workshop leader (discussion section instructor...

Reviews

Jason can understand any assignment or material you bring him as if he had already done the work himself. He can explain the topic and break it down so even if you have very little understanding of a topic he will help you learn it.

Good personality, patient and fun. He helped me with The Statistical Concepts of the Behavioral Science. Only one session so far but I have another scheduled!
- Shawn D. from Mission Viejo, CA
Very competent and good economic intuitions. Would recommend on working with him on any assignment that involves both math and economics. Is this text long enough ?
- Andrea S. from Irving, TX
Great lesson. In depth and very informative. Was able to break down complex concepts into simple parts. I would use this tutor again.

Jason was very patient and very kind. He took his time to explain everything to me thoroughly, and made the lesson fun. I would highly recommend him to anybody! Because of him, I ended up getting a passing grade on my final, had we not done a late night session to review (yes, he was willing to do a late night session with me to accommodate my work schedule) I don?t know what I would?ve done. 10 out of 10!

TLDR: Need a statistics tutor to help you understand this branch of mathematics? he is your guy... worth every dollar and then some. Very knowledgeable, patient, and an absolute great communicator! Finding the right tutor with the technical knowhow, communication, and patience is a big ask, especially when wyzant tutoring profiles say very little. I needed help discussing concepts in an advance probability course and I've had prior experience reaching out to other wyzant tutor and leaving very disappointed. Jason was the complete opposite, he exceeded all expectation and we hit the grown running with concepts I was having a hard time grasping (calculating probabilities for type 1 and type 2 error for various discrete probability distributions, discussing and calculating methods of moments, minimum-variance unbiased estimator, maximum likelihood estimation (MLE), and constructing most powerful alpha-level tests. All this is to say is that if you need help with statistics, at all levels, he is your guy.

Jason has been helping me with a graduate-level intro to statistics class. Before meeting with Jason I was feeling overwhelmed by the homework and tests, but after working with him twice, my understanding is quickly improving. I am looking forward to continuing to get help from Jason!
- Nikki H. from San Francisco, CA
Really helped me understand stats and how to solve in r studio, explained the problems very well, and also made sure I understood how it would be with different problems and situations.
- Kevin Z. from Buford, GA
Jason helped me with a graduate-level Statistical Inference course. While many tutors do not have that level of knowledge, or do but aren't good at explaining things at my level, Jason helped me understand some really complicated problems. He is a life-saver!

- SHEELA A. from Danville, CA
Extremely well educated individual. I was impressed with his command of all the terms that he was taught when he attended university
- Ryan D. from Scottsdale, AZ
Honestly I was scared that I waited too late to find a tutor but in two hours he went over all my coding with me and I feel super confident in what we covered. I look forward to tutoring and asking questions because he fosters a uniquely comfortable air in the session. I felt like I was able to learn and test out what we covered in the session too, as he asked me questions and let me write out code to see if I really digested what was just covered. He took the time to explain basic concepts and keyboard shortcuts that I hadn?t known previously. Overall it was wonderful and I appreciate the time he took to teach me.
