Before meeting with Mr. James, translating Latin passages felt extremely overwhelming to me. The words are arranged differently than Latin. However, when I started tutoring sessions with Mr. James, he immediately recognized my struggles. Then, he taught me the sentence structures and how Latin words agree with other words in the case, tense, gender, person, and number. Not only I learned how to read Latin accurately and more fluently, I learned several new Latin words. I highly recommend scheduling classes with Mr. James if you are having trouble understanding the structure of the Latin.

The best Latin tutor my son ever had. James was able to make my son enjoy and learn Latin, something he did not have prior. Thanks James! We will continue using him through our the year and for Latin II.

James was able to assess where my son needs help and prepared the material for him to do more practice. He is encouraging and has a good upbeat attitude toward my son. I appreciate his help.

In my 2 classes we have covered a lot. We have gone over future tense as well as a few others. And we went over a story utilizing all 5 declensions. The pace is good and the content is good as well.

James P. helped my son to prepare for the verbal part of the ISEE test upper level. From the beginning he showed my son a fun and dynamic way to learn the vocabulary, helped with the essay and even gave him tips for good focus during the test. He surpassed our expectations for a remote tutor. He kept my son engaged at all times and worked personalized with his weaknesses. Totally recommended. Great professional.

James tutored my son for over two months. He taught him a lot of SAT and ACT test skills and worked with him on questions and feedback. My son's grades improved and his confidence increased. James is a good tutor who is serious and responsible and we highly recommend him.

My son is now an 8th grader and has been tutoring with Jim since 7th grade. I wanted a tutor who is either a current or retired teacher who knows how to speak to teenagers. My son struggled to organize his thoughts in his writing and would never provide supporting details. Jim would patiently review his writing and share suggestions for improvement. He would always offer encouraging words when my son did something well and challenged him to level up his vocabulary and reading comprehension in different ways. Jim and my son are currently working on reading the book "The Giver" which is an 8th grade level assignment. He would assign chapters of the book as a reading assignment each week and they've been working each week on understanding the characters, the plot, twists, etc. I've seen marked improvements in my son's writing skills, vocabularies and reading comprehension since he started his tutoring with Jim.

My son, who does not love Latin very much, absolutely loved his tutoring session with James. He said the amount of work he and James got done together in less than an hour would have taken him several hours to complete by himself. My son asked if we could continue to meet with James weekly so he could get better and better at Latin.

My daughter really enjoys her sessions with James. He is very engaging and encouraging. He has been helping my daughter improve creative writing. But really it is not just the writing, he does so much more that that. He has encouraged my daughter to read books that she would not have picked on her own. He has also challenged her with material that is above her grade because he thought she was ready for it. I also really appreciate the session summaries he sends out and keeps me informed about my daughter's progress. We hope to collaborate with him for a long time.

James took the time to slowly walk me through the beginning of Latin. He was very knowledgeable and patient with me. He took the time to ask me several times if the lesson was going at a speed I could handle

We're using James to help our 7th grader enhance his writing skills. While we've just worked with James for a handful of sessions thus far, we're encouraged that our son appears to enjoy them. James has been helping our son improve word choice and sentence structure in order to add depth to his writing. We're looking forward to having more sessions with James.

We have been so lucky to have Jim as a language arts tutor. My middle-school son has English as a second language and has been struggling with some English structures and writing essays. I am glad that Jim is so broadminded and knowledgeable that their classes are not limited by writing essays. He makes his student think and analyse literature in depth. Jim is a very attentive teacher. Giving a fair amount of all kinds of homework, being so supportive and enthusiastic, he made a great bond with my son. And I really appreciate that he has such good contact with me as a parent. So it turned out to be a long-term collaboration and we are very happy about it.
