We are grateful to have Ellen as my son?s tutor. My son (1st grader) is pretty shy and Ellen has been very patient and understanding. She knows how to work with kids very well and just the right way to encourage them, and was able to get my son to open up over time. My son enjoys her tutor sessions and has made big progress. Ms. Ellen is very nice and knowledgable tutor. My daughter has some issue with attention. Ms Ellen is very patient and friendly to teach my daughter how to take notes and how to make her study more interesting by combining her drawing interest into the note taking. My daughter usually doesn't like her tutor, but Ms. Ellen is an exception. Ms. Ellen really knows how to talk and how to listen to kids, and how to build a comformtable and trustable relationship with kids instead of just teaching them knowledge. She is more like a metor for kids. I think in some way, my daughter treats her like her grandma. It is hard to find a tutor who teaches by heart and Ms. Ellen is one of them.

Ellen has been working with our son for about a month now. We are so happy with the results so far! She did a good assessment of his reading at the first session, and decided on what reading method to use with him. She is patient, kind and affirming. Our son had an instant boost in overall confidence after just the first session ("Miss Ellen is going to help me." "She doesn't make me feel like I'm wrong.") Since then, he has made noticeable improvement in his spelling, after only a few sessions (his writing has progressed from incomprehensible to comprehensible, even if still not spelling all words correctly). He is also more confident in his reading and willing to take risks as he reads. Ellen takes a few minutes after each session to review the lesson with me. She writes up weekly progress reports on the web site, which I can then share with our son's teacher. She is responsive to emails. We are very happy and look forward to our son's ongoing progress!

Ellen has been tutoring my daughter for the past several months. My daughter has made a lot of progress in this short amount of time. Ellen has helped her with English, Art History and History of Western Civilization. Her writing skills have improved and so has her confidence in her ability to write. Ellen is always easy to reach and has been wonderful at accommodating our ever-changing schedule. Ellen is kind and patient and has been a much-needed addition to my daughters schooling. My only regret is not contacting her sooner! My daughter is going away for school and she has offered to help tutor her via Skype if necessary! My daughter was struggling with reading comprehension in the 4th grade. Ellen began tutoring her in June of last year. At the time, my daughter's comprehension skills were about 2 years behind her other academic areas. Ellen has worked with her once per week and helped her to develop the skills to improve her reading comprehension skills. My daughter soon saw that there were many different ways she could improve her understanding of what she was reading. Now, she employs the various techniques whenever she reads. Her reading comprehension skills have moved up multiple levels over the last few months. She is now working at grade level and is ready to try flying solo. She earned an A in her last grading period of language arts and is voluntarily reading books for fun. I would not hesitate to employ Ellen again. She is on time and organized. I always know what they have covered. She is infinitely patient. This was important, especially at the beginning when my daughter was so frustrated by the problems she was having.
