Reviews

Taught him about Bach and pacing himself, slowing down and listening. The lesson time made me very happy. Mr. Dan seems very knowledgeable about the piano and what method Daniel should begin with.

Dan is a very friendly and patient tutor. He helped my son, a rather shy 8th grader, improve his English / language arts skills. Over 9 sessions, we saw marked improvement, and that also was reflected in some standardized test scores. Highly recommend.

I gave Dan a pretty challenging task - provide Jewish Studies lessons to my two boys and me - all at the same time! Dan not only customized the curriculum to meet our needs, but somehow managed to engage and educate an 11 year-old, a 15 year-old, and a 40-something year old - all at the same time! Each lesson was both fun and interesting, and Dan presented the material in a way that will ensure the learning ?sticks.? We had a terrific tutoring experience and recommend Dan wholeheartedly.

Dan was very helpful and patient. We also appreciated how flexible he was. Thank you Dan for your hard work.
- Philip S. from San Francisco, CA
We were able to review my weaknesses and come up with a plan. He was extremely helpful!!! We discussed main ideas, composition writing and tackling the summaries.
- Jazmin B. from Pomona, NY
Dan is great, good hearted, passionate about teaching. I would highly recommend him to anyone who is struggling with any subjects that he teaches. Thank you, Dan.

Dan has been teaching math to my son twice a week. His grasp of complex concepts and ability to explain them is impressive. He is always patient, friendly, and positive. He brings knowledge of a variety of subjects to his interactions which is a pleasure to have in a tutor. If my son had English to work on instead, Dan was happy to help. My son has greatly improved in his studies with Dan as a tutor, with increased consistency and organization!

I found Dan to tutor ACT English/Reading for my friend's son who is an English learner and has hard of hearing problem. Dan taught him 21 lessons over three months. Dan is a responsible and patient tutor. He taught the student strategies of taking on the ACT problems. The student feels he is much better prepared now to take the coming ACT test.

Dan was was able to help me identify the difference of writing a policy paper from a research paper. He aligned the prompt to organize the outline of my paper which made sure I wrote about all the criteria covered in the paper. Dan had some knowledge about my topic and we were able to discuss the essence of my paper and write down questions to answer throughout the outline. I recommend before making the appointment to print the prompt and have content for him to work with.

Dan is my sons piano tutor. He had just started to take piano lessons and already, we have seen a lot of improvements. They don"t seem waste any time and get right to work. Dan knows how to communicate with people very well and is very polite. I would definitely recommend him to anyone of any age.
- Adesh B. from Arlington, VA
Dan is an excellent tutor. He is unfailingly patient and always encouraging. He always presents some tidbits of information above and beyond the lesson plans. I would heartily recommend him to any student, whether beginning or advanced. Ray L.

Great personality, knowledgeable, kept the lesson light and fun while still making significant progress!! My daughter can't wait until her next lesson... in fact, she is already telling me about what she has learned and now knows about Hebrew.
- Elissa C. from Vienna, VA
Over the course of our sessions Dan was able to help me walk through the order of operations, re-understand algebra and geometry, and help me attack problems in the most effective ways. I brought my own set of problems and we really honed in on what to look for. Any tutor can tell you what the answer is, but he let me figure things out and bounce my questions off of him throughout the process of problem solving. Explaining with patience why I was wrong or right. I was able to get my Military Aptitude Test up to an acceptable score and my sessions with him helped get me to a point that I can comfortably navigate the next test I have to improve my score even more. I highly recommend bringing sample questions or tests that you can go through. Really spend time on the areas that you might feel are your weakest. For example, I was weak with exponents, inequalities, and solving for X. We tackled problems with these topics and other rules of mathematics. Bringing your own problems from test prep books or textbooks will give your sessions structure. I recommend Dan to other folks on this site!

Dan was so amazing with my son in preparing him for his Bar Mitzvah. He taught him all the prayers, Torah and Haftorah for the Bar Mitzvah. If you have a Bar or Bat Mitzvah coming up, I would highly recommend using Dan.
- Susan K. from Bethesda, MD
Dan is a very nice, knowledgeable and patient tutor. He worked with our child to do a review of Pre-Algebra and begin an overview of Algebra 1 over the summer. He was self driven and worked at our child's pace, going quickly over items that already made sense and moving more slowly and deliberately through new concepts. We would definitely use him again and recommend him without reservation. -A.T.K

Dan is an excellent tutor. He is extremely helpful, engaging, creative and motivating. He encourages my daughter to want to learn. It has been a pleasure working with him.
- Marci M. from Ashburn, VA
Dan clearly knows his ADHD stuff, and we like his approach of identifying and building upon successes, to build confidence. He is very patient and methodical with our son, which is exactly what we need. At the same time, Dan will not allow ADHD to be an excuse for lack of effort. On top of that Dan is a very personable guy. We look forward to collaborating with him.
- Ann G. from Arlington, VA
My 8-year-old daughter has resisted learning Hebrew, and we switched to individual tutoring to keep her making progress. I wouldn't say there's been a sea change in her attitude, but Dan is patient with her and she seems to be progressing. I appreciate the absence of tantrums. We switched from Biblical to modern Hebrew; Dan has been quite flexible with her.
- Rebecca T. from Washington, DC
Relates well to kids. Helped my 7th grader understand his algebra homework and prepare for a quiz. Kind, personable, and very reliable.
- Elizabeth V. from Mc Lean, VA
He helped my nephew with ASVAB. He only had a week to prepare and Dan helped him a lot. After a week of intensive studying and lessons with him almost everyday, my nephew passed the ASVAB! He received a score of 54 which is a dramatic increase from any of the tests and his highest score to date! He went in the tutoring session with a score of 1% and improved to the 30s and then ended in the 50s. Quite an improvement! And Dan is the biggest factor in it!
