Reviews

In addition to being knowledgeable and experienced in the subject matters he is teaching, Dan's teaching style is engaging and he is able to relate ideas in a way that is tailored to my learning style. Highly recommended!

Despite taking several statistics and econometrics courses in college and using both professionally, I decided to refresh on the underlying theory via self-study of DeGroot and Schervish's Probability and Statistics, 4th Ed. Dan provided expert answers and supporting expositions to all of my questions, which generally centered around proofs as opposed to calculations. I find these types of questions less tractable and thus more difficult to explain to someone else; however, Dan achieved that objective on every occasion. I will continue to work with Dan and highly recommend him for help with probability and statistics.

I Just have to say that Dan is an amazing tutor. He is really clear with instructions, and will stop and take the time to make sure that you understand concepts before getting down to the quantitative side. We had a sessions on bond pricing, and going into the session it would be fair to say the material felt over my head, but after the session, I really got a good handle on the material. His method of instruction is also more then what I expected. He does not use skype, but the platform he uses allows for powerpoint sharing, voice, and video communication. Also, there is a separate whiteboard component where the mathematical work can be shared, so you are not just being told what to do but shown the steps as well. I would say that Dan is really good, and if I have to get another session, then I would have no problem choosing him again.

Made learning about complex financial markets and instruments much easier than I have encountered with other instructors. Gave very tangible examples in context.

Dan's approach is first to make sure that you understand theory. When you understand it, he will help you with practical usage of it (but he won't do it for you since he wants you to understand it). Whenever he would leave you with unsolved problems, he would be thinking about it on his free time and will e-mail you with solution, even after the tutoring lesson. He is worth recommending.
