EducationI have a Ph.D. in molecular biophysics from Florida State University, Tallahassee, Florida, and a B.S. in chemistry and biology from the University of Miami, Florida.
In the past, I was a biology teacher at Jesuit High School, a special education inclusion teacher at West Jefferson High School for over five years in science and math courses, and a High School Math teacher at Ursuline Academy of New Orleans, teaching pre-algebra, algebra, and algebra honors.

Barbara helped me break down dimensional analysis problems into types, that way when I look at a problem on my own I can type it, and know exactly the steps I need to take to solve it. Barbara usually gives great lessons but yesterday was different. I had 25 practice questions I at least wanted to get through but we only finished 8. I could be wrong but I feel like she was in a bad mood, I'm not sure if it was because I did not know the material or what. I felt like she was aggravated with me and that's not ok. Even when I was leaving she asked "can't she help you" referring to my friend who gave those 25 questions to practice. I am going to try a new tutor.

Barbara was terrific in helping my 11th grader get caught up in AP Chemistry. She met with him for one hour daily for 9 days, reviewing what his deficiencies were and teaching him what he missed or was confused on. Barbara was the 3rd tutor we tried for AP Chemistry and she was very knowledgeable but also helpful in preparing lessons tailor made to what my son needed to learn. She helped him learn for the class but also for the coming AP exam, covering test taking strategies. She used Wyzant to review his past tests and also posted a summary of each session on Wyzant that I could read online which really helped me understand what was covered in their meeting and what my son needed to work on. I highly recommend her - worth her time at twice the price.

When Barbara left our home my son said to me, "She is so smart she could be President." He also felt if he works very hard without "delays and distractions" that one day he would achieve an education as Barbara has, but in his field. To be able to inspire a teenage boy to work hard without distractions is simple a gift. I can't say enough good things about Barbara. The money we have spent in Tutors through the years is crazy.
