Supportive and encouraging though sometimes the directions are a little unclear.

Pros: If you like or are good with memorizing terms then this is the class for you. She is very nice. Tests are in a pretty simple format.
Cons: She talks very softly and that combined with dry material makes for a very boring class. This was one of my classes that I showed up for and immediately was counting down to the end.
It should be noted that I did get a B in the class... somehow

Pros: Nice and can converse
Cons: Inaudible, slow, boring, not always clear, too many films
Never puts emphasis on any points more than others, and is too quiet even in the first row on some days if the class is restless. Not the class, but this instructor will put you to sleep

Pros: Prof. Kwiatkowski is very nice, understanding, and helpful. She gives good advice on research for the papers you have to write and assigns pretty interesting reading. I really liked her as a person.
Cons: Unfortunately, she talks REALLY quietly and is rather boring during her lectures. Plus, she doesn't write down the notes other than a bare-bones outline, so you have to write down pretty much everything she says.
I liked Prof. Kwiatkowski quite a bit despite how quiet she was. The class had interesting material. The only thing I didn't like was that there were only 2 exams and if you missed part of one of the 30 point essay questions, you were pretty much screwed. A good class though, with lots of interesting discussion and reading.

Pros: All written exams so it's much easier to do well
She explains anything during office hours
Cons: Very quiet when she lectures
She literally lectures the whole time
To pass her class you have to go to class. I took this class for my capstone and she was awesome.

Kwiatkowski is very knowledgeable on medical anthropology. However, if you sit anywhere but the first or second row, you will not be able to hear. Do not miss class if you want a good day!

Lynn is an amazing professor and is SO intelligent! Her lectures are presented in a very easy to follow format and she is always so eager to help students outside of class. I fully enjoyed Medical Anthropology- If you are interested in the subject, you will come away from this class with a rich understanding.

Lynn taught one of my favorite classes in the Anthropological department, Medical anthropology. She does speak softly, but I never had an issue understanding her. On the contrary, Lynn, in contrast to other professors I've had, is extremely organized with her lectures. I always know what's going on and how concepts connect to others. I found her readings to be very interesting and she was also the most helpful of ANY professor I've EVER had. Especially with helping outside of class. She always has time for you and genuinely cares about her students. I don't know some people gave her a bad rating-- she's great!

I have taken a lot of courses, and she is by far the worst professor I have every had. She lectures non-stop for the vast majority of the class, and she does not ask the class questions or engage the class in any way. You will have to listen to her monotonous, reserved voice for the entire class. When students asked her questions, it seemed like she felt cornered and deferred the answer to a latter part of her lecture. She never answered a question directly. She has ruined anthropology for me, even though the material seemed kind of cool.

She is VERY HELPFUL OUTSIDE OF CLASS! Yes, her lectures are a bit dry and she is quiet and monotone. However, she is so nice and helpful outside of class. She will read over your papers, give advice, and if you follow her guidelines and changes to assignments will give you a higher grade. If you can sit through the lectures you can do well in the class.

Dr. Kwiatkowski is a very well read, research and articulate professor. Her manner of presenting material, however, is very lackluster. I wouldn't suggest taking a course with her unless you have a great interest in the subject matter. If you are in a course with her, visit her during office hours; she seems less intimidated one on one and is very interesting to talk to. Her tests are usually part multiple choice, part essay. Keep up with at least 75% of the readings, keep a reading journal, and use the study guides, and you'll do fine. Also, GO TO CLASS. She covers a ton of information in a short period of time, so if you miss, you miss a lot. Drink a red bull before hand if you have to, but you will learn a lot.

While I agree with all of the assertions that she speaks too low and gives what are some of the most boring lectures of my academic career, I completely disagree with the notion that she favors women over men in any fashion. In fact, from what I could tell, she was so concerned about being objective about EVERYTHING that it actually ended up being one of her largest flaws. While it's nice to encounter a professor who doesn't preach whatever theory they subscribe to as the one and only truth, with Professor Kwiatkowski, everything was 'Some scholars say...' or 'These people believe x...well, not ALL of them believe x, but most of them do...' A teacher who teaches from such a position invariably comes off as dispassionate and boring. She probably does care a lot about issues in South East Asia, and probably knows a lot about the subject, but you'd never pick up on either just from taking the class.

She is a very sweet lady. She is willing to help with anything, but I agree with the masses. She needs to up her enthusiasm and her volume!

Everything written below is true. Everything. Every word of it. Except possibly the gender thing -- I talked to her in person once, and it was an EXCELLENT conversation, and I didn't detect a hint of resentment or discrimination. She's a very warm, friendly person, who just happens to be horribly intimidated by a crowd, as far as I can tell. To be blunt: If you have Professor Kwiatkowski, abandon all hope. Now, it's not a hard class. Just make sure you arrive in advance to contend for the valuable front-row seating. The reading for AP100 is pretty much optional. All you REALLY need to do is fill in the AP100 Short Essay Madlib: 'America is robbing the noble (nomadic tribe you've never heard of) of their (natural resource that is common in their area), which they have treasured for countless generations. It is a tragedy that the ideals of "modernization" and "globalization" take precedent over basic human dignity, allowing (formally recognized government of region that nomadic tribe lives in) to savagely exploit this peaceloving people, at the behest of their Corporate American puppet masters. Already, they have been robbed of their ancient heritage, and been forced into a small parcel of land barely large enough to sustain them.' Just keep blathering away like you're Noam Chomsky, and you'll get a 20/20 on the short essay.

Professor Kwiatkowski is obviously a smart woman, very knowledgable, but this does not stop her from coming up very short on being a college professor. She talks too soft to be heard, even in the second row, and her "outlines" consist of little phrases that she'll expand upon, jumping from one to another, hardly even making use of the outline. Her exams are difficult, making it hard for a non-major to pass. She OBVIOUSLY favors women over men, and both sexes could easily see it. She is a smart woman, and a very educated and qualified one at that, but her skills as a teacher are non-existent.

Anthropology isn't the most thrilling subject but she makes it even worse by being the MOST BORING INDIVIDUAL I'VE EVER HAD TO SIT AND LISTEN TO ON A REGULAR BASIS. She seems like an incredibly sweet lady but unfortunately, that doesn't make for a good professor. The videos from the 70's that she showed were more exciting than any of the lectures. She talks so softly you can barely hear her and (if youre not sleeping) you'll realize quick that she repeats herself like mad. I had to take a zillion notes just to stay awake..and even then I only pulled off an okay grade. She graded on the curve, though, because I know I did worse than a B. I think that would be the only positive of this entire course. Seriously, unless you have a deep rooted passion for everything anthropology related... don't even try this course.

The majority of information on the anthropology is given through powerpoint presentations, and her public speaking which is terrible. I found myself debating on what information relates to the class. I would say this is the most boring activity I have ever done.

Kwiatkowsi is very nice and knowledgeable, but you would never know this by attending one of her classes. She spoke so softly that I couldn't hear her over my own heartbeating. This made the class very frustrating, but I would imagine that if you have either super hearing or sit in the front row, she would be a good professor.

Professor Kwiatkowski is possibly one of the worst public speakers i have ever encountered in college thus far. She is so monotone and quiet that even the microphone doesn't allow the class to hear her quietly. She cannot project her voice at all and presents the material with not an ounce of enthusiasm. Her lectures are incredibly hard to follow because she gives you an outline and then talks for an hour and a half and you have to try and write down what you can barely hear her saying. There is no coursebook provided to help you with the terms, if you miss a class or need extra help. She is however willing to help you in any way if you need it, but i would strongly recommend getting into another section because she makes the class almost unbarable to attend.
