Hello! My name is Max, and I am a very experienced math tutor looking to help anybody who seems to be running into a mental wall against math. Mathematics can seem to be a very complex field of study and very overwhelming at times, but I'm here to help. It is important to try many different teaching styles, and I will find the right style that fits you. We can tackle math one problem at a time to build a solid foundation of knowledge. It's important to build a solid base of knowledge because ...

Reviews

This review is probably going to be a bit of a read but Max deserves the praise! When I was younger math tended to come easy to me until one day it didn't and that went on throughout college till eventually I reached my final obstacle: calculus 2. I struggled on and on and ended up not passing my first semester. In the break between semesters I was diagnosed with ADHD and started treatment, alongside this my family and I thought it would be wise to seek out some extra help learning concepts considering this would be my last go at calculus 2 as I was now a second semester senior in college. This is where I met Max. Max has this unique ability to understand a students needs quickly and adjust how he approaches his teachings accordingly. Being treated for ADHD as an adult man going into his last semester of college was extremely hard cause I was essentially learning how I learn. Max was extremely cognizant of this and let me discuss with him how I believe I approach learning and problem solving. Not only this, he was also able to adjust his own tricks and short-cuts to suit my methodology for problem solving, which displays his innate understanding that learning (especially with advanced concepts) is never monolithic. An example that comes to mind is in one of our first lessons when we were going over trig substitution. I am a person who likes to have distinct steps when solving a math problem, but due to my diagnosis I often make small mistakes along the way and with trig substitution that can lead to some major loss of points! Max was able to help me standardize my approach to trig substitution with proper methods of checking my work and I have not gotten a trig substitution question wrong on an exam since! When you choose Max as your tutor you aren't just getting someone who is doing a job on the side. You're getting a friend who is genuinely invested in your success as a learner and as a mathematician. Whether it's his willingness to help solve a homework question on a napkin at a bowling alley while he's with friends, or his enthusiastic banter that cultivates a fun and safe learning environment. Max is the tutor that any student no matter your needs will have an easy time meshing with. I will conclude with this, Max took my exam grade last semester from a D+ to an A this semester. Thank you Max it's been a pleasure!

I do not believe in miracles. However, if they do exist, I am pretty sure they exist in the form of a man named, Max. I was never able to do remotely well on a calc exam and have been working with Max since my last mid term, on which I got a 65%. Since I began working with him about a month or so ago, I was able to improve my exam grade to a 95%, something I really did not think I was capable of. I could not have done it without Max and highly recommend him to anyone that may be struggling in their math courses. I promise you that you will leave any session with Max with a far greater understanding of whatever it is you are working on.

I met with Max at the beginning of the semester in my Calculus 2 class and I was incredibly impressed with how smart he was by the end of our first lesson. Not only was he very knowledgable, but he was as good as one could hope for at explaining and conveying concepts. If you don't understand something, he is more than capable of helping you learn it. He is very passionate about math and can even explain how the different concepts you're learning can apply to the real world. I had around 15 lessons with Max and enjoyed every one of them. Not only was he a tutor, but he became a friend as well. I was struggling with Calculus 2 at the start of the semester, and I'm going to get an A in the class. I highly recommend Max to anyone who comes across his profile. He will be the best tutor you could possibly find.

Max is really encouraging and meets you where you are. I?m getting extra help from him for the last month before I take the GRE. He shows you both the long way and the shortcut for solving problems, and I really think his help will teach me how to think differently about the quantitative section!

Max did an amazing job breaking down the beginning basics of Calculus. His teaching methods are very effective which enabled a Calculus student to go from confused and frustrated to confident and have a positive outlook of Calculus. Thanks Max!
- Marc C. from Forney, TX
He is incredibly well versed in everything GRE. He was able to give me a concise run down in the things I needed a refresher in and helped me focus on the things that have weight.

Max is fast enough to keep up when I race through material I?m already familiar with, but patient enough to walk me through parts I get stuck on. Very skilled in mathematics, knows a lot of tricks that are easier to remember than the ?long form? solutions on my math lab. Also very insightful and good at explaining the relationships and concepts behind all the math. Knows how to ?make it simple? - the textbooks make it hard! Would absolutely recommend.

Max really helped calm my math related fears and broke problems down for me so that I could really see what the question was asking. His confidence in my abilities made me feel at ease and much more positive about conquering the quantitative section on the GRE!

Great first lesson. My daughter was against the idea of a tutor and Max did a great job breaking the ice and earning her trust. Looking forward to her next lesson.

We have been using a different tutor and for whatever reason my daughter's grades in AP Calculus continued to slip. After even just one tutor session with Max she got 100! She continues to improve and really likes Max.

I would have never gotten an A in my Calculus 2 class without Max. Not only is he extremely helpful and patient, but he empowered me with the confidence I needed to get through the course. After each lesson with him I felt significantly less stressed about the subject, and my grade in the class clearly reflects his effectiveness as a tutor. Math is one of my weakest subjects, and Calculus 2 is probably the last math class I will ever take, but part of me wishes I was taking more math so I could continue working with Max. I would highly recommend him to anyone struggling with any level of math.

Finding a Pre-calc and Physics tutor for my son was a daunting experience. We had tried several tutors and either my son couldn't relate to them or they did not teach the technique in a way his teacher would accept. I am so thankful to WyzAnt and Max for coming to the rescue. Max came to our house to work with my son for his first session. As soon as the session was concluded, my son said, "I really relate to Max, mom. He explains things in a way I completely understand. He is so patient and makes me feel at ease with my questions." Max has worked with my son numerous times over the last 6 months and now helps my other son, as well. We strongly recommend Max and WyzAnt!

I walked into my first appointment with a mix of emotions. I wanted to do well on the GRE, but I was very nervous meeting my new tutor. When meeting Max, I instantly knew he could help me with my goal. He was energetic, positive, and patient. I have met with him a numerous amount of times and continue to enjoy every session. He even made me look forward to studying and learning more each time. I highly recommend him to any and all students. He is extremely knowledgeable and understanding!

He is a great tutor. He helped me out a lot. He is very patient, helpful, and a great tutor. I enjoyed working with him. We went over percentage, opposites, operations, equations, inequalities, and problem solving.

Max has truly helped my son in math. He has shown him how to understand the math section of the ACT and his score increased. We also see higher scores on his math tests. We are super pleased and would recommend Max for tutoring. We have seen tremendous improvement and my son now maintains A or high B average in class. We just received his ACT and he went up another point and received the score he needed. Max was a great tutor that my son can relate to. We're very happy!

Max came for the first time to tutor my daughter on Geometry. Normally an excellent math student, my daughter was struggling a little and not receiving very clear instruction from her teacher. Max and my daughter hit the ground running, having a very focused session. She told me after that, "Wow, Max gave great explanations! I really understand so much more now." I can't ask much better than that. Max was also personable and professional.
