Cons: arrogant, boring
Cons: Her presentation of the material is often contradictory, misleading, and sometimes just wrong. She tests a lot of stuff she does not teach. Too many answers to her exam questions cannot be well supported even by her own light. A very irresponsible teacher.
If you want to learn biology, go with someone else. If you take her, plan to learn on your own. The last thing she does is give you a 'foundation of biology'.
Cons: Her tests never cover what she teaches, you have to rely on yourself for everything
Cons: Nothing covered in lecture appeared on the exam.
As a foundations biology course, this was absolutely the hardest class I have ever taken. The exams were cryptic and practically impossibly to understand. The subject matter for the majority of the questions did not come from the notes or anything covered in lecture. I studied for hours on end, went to recitations, and wrote countless outlines/notes, but nothing seemed to work. Overall, I would never recommend Dr. Roberts to anyone taking foundations of bio or her other classes, as it will obliterate your GPA.
Cons: Tests are tricky and sometimes depend on a matter of semantics.
She is always willing to help. She tends to provide a great explanation, but it doesn't provide total understanding - it is helpful to go onto youtube and look up things like the krebs cycle, or other mechanisms to see it in action.
gives specific examples
straight forward with what's going to be on the exam
positive attitude
Cons: need to know a lot, but if you work its rewarding
Cons: Lots of work.
Hard class, best teacher.
Cons: not particularly great knowledge compared to other bio profs, power points generally mean nothing and are of no value, prepares exams with insanely specific biological questions from hundreds of pages of material
Cons: Creates confusing test questions with screwed up logic to explain her thinking. To do well, you have to learn how SHE thinks, not always about how biology works.
