The Human Being in Islam
About this Course
This course introduces students to the topic of the human being from the perspective of Islam. Students will explore four main areas of this fascinating question: the nature and constituents of the human being, Islam’s approach of addressing these constituents, the higher objectives of human creation in the Quran, and the importance of raising awareness of the essence of the human being and the meta objectives of creating them. We begin with determining the place of the human being in the equation of civilisation. That is: humans’ interaction with the world through culture (the active agent) produces civilisation. Therefore, it is clear that the human being is the most significant component of this equation. The latter is similar to a chemical equation in that it is essential to know the nature of its components one by one and how to employ them properly. Otherwise, instead of attaining the desirable result, the unintended reaction of the components to one another may lead to catastrophic results.Created by: Qatar University
