Pros: Knows a lot about the material.
Cons: SO BORING
I had to take this class for a minor and that's the only reason why I took it. He is very boring. It was hard to stay awake.

Pros: Nice easy going teacher, not a real hardass.
Cons: Kind of full of himself, doesn't cut kids alot of slack who like to talk on their phones and tends to shoot you down if your trying to be too smart.

Pros: A lot of useful information for SPEA students. Not too difficult but enough to where you actually learn things in a manageable stress environment. Some of the readings are interesting.
Cons: Some of the lectures were dry and boring, though most would say that all of them were. I just happen to find public policy interesting. The paper could seem "big" to some. Not allowed to use laptops.
Prof. Stone teaches Urban problems from a public/municipal policy perspective. So if you find city government and how it operates boring you will not enjoy this class. If you can find some interest you will learn some useful information about how governments work (taxes, zoning, crime, etc.) Although a lot of the application, the visibly interesting stuff, will not be talked about till the second 8 weeks. The first 8 weeks is all the inns and outs of how local governments work and work together.
