While the university's insurance policies cover on-campus residents, they do not extend to off-campus housing. Therefore, students renting apartments or houses should consider purchasing renters insurance to ensure that their possessions, including technology, clothing, and furniture, are protected in the event of a loss. In addition, renters insurance typically includes liability coverage, which could help cover legal expenses or damages if the student accidentally causes property damage or bodily injury to someone else. Ultimately, having renters insurance can provide peace of mind and financial protection for Cal Poly Pomona students living off-campus.
