 He's retiring this quarter so I'm likely to be the last one to comment on his teaching ability, but it really seemed like Dr. Berdine doesn't give a shit anymore. He makes crude sexual jokes to entertain the class, but his teaching ability is subpar and he's often paranoid about students cheating, stealing, coming to class high, getting pregnant, etc... Seriously, he made us do a project on contraception methods to avoid teen pregnancy, and this is a marketing class. He's about to be gone though so fuck it. Grade Received: Likely to be an A

 This guy is pretty crazy. To sum it up, you will either hate him or like him. He knows his stuff, he teaches ok (does go over topics and does answer questions), he acts stupidly crazy/funny sometimes...but when you approach him...he seems so switch to serious mode. The class is somewhat challenging in way. His class consisted of total of 500 points possible: 300 tests (100 points each exam) And 200 everything else (quizzes, article summaries (big bulk of points), other assignments). I was average out a C in the class, but I would assume he curves because I ended up with a B. Anyway, study like crazy for the first test, the second was the easiest in my opinion, the third was also a bit more challenging. But ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS STUDY HIS STUDY GUIDE...everything on it will be on the test...and finally do not just read the definitions...read the definition as well as its surrounding paragraph to grasp its concept. Oh and his grade scale is b/s...F = below 65%, D = 65 - 73%, C = 74 - 82%, B = 83 - 91%, A = 92 - 100%....horrible grading scale. All in all, not that bad of a class. The material is very boring...but this guy acts so crazy it entertains you...or will be very sick of him by the middle of the quarter. Again, just study his study guides!!! Grade Received: B

 Berdine is a weird guy. He makes strange voices during lectures and makes a lot of comments about sex and porn. His lectures are really boring and he takes attendance so don't try to ditch too much because it will affect your grade. No projects in the class only three tests and some extra credit work. The book is almost useless because he makes you buy a lecture that he made. You can pretty much study that guide and get decent grades on the test.

 Like everyone has said, he's a little crazy. But if you want an easy A take this guy. Make sure to come to class everyday because he gives random points for people who show up. Do any stupid assignment to get more points, we had to do a rap about not smoking, preventing stds, and obesity. Make sure to go to the review session because he'll practically give the test questions all in order. Make sure that when your studying the guide don't just read the definition, make sure to read the whole paragragh that surrounds the definition. Before I took the final I was averaging a C, but weirdly got a B. By the way, if he offers the class the study guide that's not available in the bookstore, DON'T BUT IT!!!! It's a waste of money.  do not take this class if you can't come to class on time. he locks the door on the hour on test days! so don't be late and try not to miss class. he will randomly give out extra points for people who come to class or give an assignment. he totally favors people so speak up and talk back to him. he is sooo flaming, but claims hes married. hes just a big pervy wierdo who sucks at teaching. his class is a huge waste of time. its an easy class, but i have a problem with being on time so i dropped after being locked out of the first midterm.

 Stupid teacher was freaken weird. He makes all these weird cartoon noises as if he was a kid. Often times he would also talk to himself. He does a lot of gay hand gestures. He is one lousy teacher who doesn't know how to teach for crap. All he likes to boast about is his stupid real estate license and experience and if he was a major hit why the hell is he teaching at cal poly? The guy doesn't know how to teach he trys to kill time why explaining class rules to us like kids. Oh i can't believe this kind of stuff still happens in college but some idoits even kiss up of him haha.

 How to get a good grade:
(1) Read the book
(2) Be in class whenever he gives the test review, the review will have every or most questions that will be asked.
(3) Have good attendance because he gives extra credit or pop assignments.
(4) Remember his name is William R. Berdine or you will fail.
}Berdine is cool. Quite a character that you either will like or hate, or a combination of the two. He tells jokes and makes weird noises: girly voice, hick, baby voice.
Overall a good teacher, one thing that got to me was his grading scale, something like a 92 and + was an A. 84-91 was a B...and so on read the syllabus.

 Berdine is so crazy it's amusing. He bluntly says things that most people think in their heads but are afraid to say out loud. His tests are very straight forward. Whatever the study guide has is exactly what you're going to see on the test. He's a fair guy. He can read through BS so don't try it with him. Most people think he's weird but I think he's actually really neat. You just have to be a bit more open minded with him. If you make an honest effort, you'll pass the class.

 the only reason i really failed was because i never showed up to class and when i did i was usually late. he hates people who walk in late and hates bullshit excuses. he randomly will give a popquiz or points for showing up. he is a freak who talks way too much and tries to makes jokes out of everything. just show up and read the book and turn things in on time and follow his instructions and you will do fine.  The only way I made it through this class was by reading the book. He was useless as a teacher. He stood in front of the class and read from a sheet of paper. His antics during class were juvenile, although he seemed to think he was very funny. I found his remarks about females and obese people offensive, tasteless, and sexist. It appears the only way to market anything is through using sex, because that's what he talked about during most lectures. Grade Received: B

 First off you wont learn nothing in this class all he does is make weird noises and sounds and always reflects upon his sexuality during class and incorporates it into his lectures. I was pretty confused i never studied becuase i thought the class was a joke i missed the pop quizzies so dont miss class he sneaks up on students that dont come to class and gives quizzies that are no brainers really easy just show up but still the material covered for the test is way different so you actually have to read the book i did for the final and thats it. He pretty much always makes homosexual references to the class and kind of confused me i didnt know if he was like that or if he was straight so its kinda weird he always mentions hes married but hes always got some thing weird going on in his head and when your in class its like he is fighting something in his mind and talking to himself its so weird so if you feel you need a change of a teaching style not strickly out of the book and something abnormal go for it and take a chance u might like it depending on your attitude but man i thought he was very annoying or just not normal but if you approach him on one on one conversation he is a cool guy but always seems lost or a bit weird but whatever what is normal these days i wouldnt recommend him if there is other choices Grade Received: D

 Prof. Berdine is such a cartoon character!! He's silly and real chill as his tests are not hard at all. He does give pop quizzes (easy ones) so attendance although it's not counted would help your grade alot. However, you need to be on time to his class and his grading system is sorta weird being: that 92-100=A; 82-91=B; 72-81=C; etc. Nonetheless, if you study for his class you'll be ok; you can even cram for the test and still be fine haha. -ljwu Grade Received: A-

 he's a bit soft spoken but for some reason you're able to hear him. his lectures are boring and 90% of the time you wonder if what he's talking about is even relevent to the subject matter (most of the time its not). maybe its me but i thought he talked about sex a lot. he had 3 exams 100 questions all true/false. his grading curve is weird cause an 81 is a C. he helps you review for the exams BUT he goes so fast that sometimes it doesn't even matter. overall he's a nice guy and i guess i'd take him again.

 This teacher has a very high knowledge for Marketing. For example, attendance in not necessary but if you do not show up to class it will be very hard to do well on tests. He provides study sheets for students, and encourages participation with unannounced quizzes to get students to show up to class. I like that he does not pressure students to speak and that he does not puts students on the spot like other professors. I feel that allows the student to feel more comfortable that they can learn the material better and not worry about being called on at random. His grading is different a 93 to 100 is an A.83 to 92 is a B and so on. Dr. Berdine is very intellectual and he is worth getting up in the morning to get up for class because he keeps students awake with his sense of humor. Take him he will change your life in a positive manner.

 We had three exams in his class, all of equal weight, and attendance is not required. He always adds 5-10 points to each test, so after getting high B's on the first two exams without reading much of the book, i quit going to class. If you're just going to sleep in class (like i did) there's no point of going, just read at home. but if you actually do go to class, i found that he does throw in some test questions here and there. so it's all up to you! if you just try a liitle bit, this class is cake.

 This is by far the easiest teacher in the IBM department! I've taken Berdine for 302, 307, 411, and am currently taking 327. Attendance is optional, and tests are straight from the book. He gives a study guide. Class attendance is a waste of time because he goes off of the subject and talks about things that arent even relevant. If you take him just go to class on the day before the test and the day of the test and you'll be fine. Just dont be late for the test because he locks the door. Overall, class is super easy, you dont even need to go, just buy the book

 This guy is laaazyy. Of course, many people find that cool 'cause you don't do work at all and don't learn that much either and get a good grade. Personaly, I didn't like his class. I'm majoring in Marketing and believe it is very important to have a professor that teaches well, so I learn what I'm suppose to learn for my major. But this professor was really lazy. He canceled many classes without any acceptable reason, and added points to every test to bring everybody to an A. What's the point of studying then. In addition, some of the questions on the test were grade wrong, so why study, if you're never gonna know exactly how you did on a test. Take him, if you want to get a good grade knowing you didn't really earned it. or if you are just LAZY like him.

 A down-to-earth professor. I only attended his class 4 times íV first days of class, and 3 exams. I get an íºAí¿ for the class. He tell funny jokes and give out study guide that includes everything on the exam. If you want to get an easy íºAí¿ and doníªt want to show up for class, heíªs the one to take.

 I think it was 327... He is a funny guy. Attendence was optional but I went to every session 'cause I enjoyed his class. He uses a book he wrote, which is really easy to read. (2 to 3 pages per chapter) His exams were all true and false. Remember all the numbers which are in the book. (Such as only 3% of cupons get redeemed) Easy A.
