Pros: The class was easy, not much to do with her but if you look up stats lectures online you'll get the material
Cons: This teacher is terrible. She is barely comprehensible and her examples make no sense
The class can be very easy but not with this teacher. TAKE IT WITH ANOTHER TEACHER

This class was absolute torture. Dr. Parisay has no social skills whatsoever and doesnt know how to interact in a classroom environment. She makes no effort to accommodate the class. She teaches like a robot, very mechanical with very little emotion. As a result, you get very bored very quickly. She keeps telling you that you are not a high school student and tries to be as condescending as possible when you ask too many questions. She is very easily annoyed by questions. She doesn't believe in curves, which would be fine if she had any semblance of teaching abilities. Because she is very vague and ambiguous (and prone to lots of mistakes that she doesnt catch) you end up not trusting her. Take someone else for this class. There's a reason the class is empty.

Do not take this course!!! Lectures are boring half the class would leave at break, board work is sloppy, powerpoint notes are from 1999 (she could at least change the date to fool us). Quizzes are given everyday the majority of the class got 1/5 or 2/5.

Short story- time consuming class, picky grader, doesn't curve, good intentions
Long story- This class is VERY time consuming and not reflective of the other courses in the Engineering Management program (it takes up much more time than the other classes, both in and out of class time). You need to be prepared for a quiz each week which she gives out at the beginning of each class session. However, she only collects three quizzes to grade and only the best 2 of the 3 scores count toward your grade. She is BIG on "report to manager". Pay attention to what she wants in class and you'll be fine, even though it will be hard to focus/pay attention in class. She notes during her lectures what you should put in the reports, so if you do that, you should be good, just be careful to not add things she didn't ask for, or she will mark you off for it is wrong. Note: if you add things that she didn't ask for but is right, she will give you extra credit (only way to get extra points in her class). Her lectures are REALLY long. She keeps you the entire 4 hours but gives you about 3 breaks during class. Lectures are a little dry and repetitive. The majority of lecture is comprised of handouts which are a collection of photocopies sheets you buy from the Copy and Mail Center which she also has available on her website. In my opinion, the "notebook" could be organized a lot better. She assigns homework weekly but doesn't collect it. If is your responsibility to do it. I highly recommend you attempt it and pay attention to the example problems she does during class because the quizzes and exams are almost mirrors of the example/homework problems with small adjustments. Also, she is big on knowing how to use the WinQSB software. It is and old software that requires and outdated Windows OS. Part of the exam grade was using the software, so just know how to get by. One pro is that she allows you a full front and back 8X11 cheat sheet of notes for the exams. Actually 2 sheets, one for the software portion of the exam and the other for the rest. Another pro is that she actually is a really nice woman who in her way is trying to make sure you learn the material. She is helpful during her office hours too. This was hands down the hardest and most time-consuming class in the EM program (but it is largely due the professor), the material itself is very self explanatory

For IE students, you have to get through Parisay to get your degree. Make sure you have time if when you do take a Parisay class. Her classes are not hard. They just take time because the material is not easy. Her teaching ability is not great in comparison with others in the department. But for this class, her lecture notes and video suppls on her webstie will get you through the class. The project is not hard if you start on it early and ask her questions about your approach and logic. One thing I found true was that she was strict in class because she wants to adhere to her schedule. But, if you can catch her in her office hours, she patient and very nice. I found it useful to write things down because I can't always understand her with the accent.
}She's not as bad as everyone makes her. Grade Received: A-

so ok, this was my fourth class with her. Lots of people complain that she wasnt their best friend and that she didnt give them a pat on the back each time. the thing is Dr. Parisay comes from that old school engineering mentality..the abusive engineering mentality that im sure she and many other profs went through when they were undergrads....lots of tough work...lots of study...testing concepts and stuff like that. i cant say i didnt like it but truth is this professor makes you strong and able, she forces you to be organized and observant like all professors are supposed should. Shes not easy but guess what homeboy, niether is the cold cruel world. There were alot of excuses from people but even those that hated her did well enough if they were dedicated. Grade Received: A

she was a tough one. Gave quizzes every class period, only collected them at random. Gave lots of homework throughout the quarter and collected only two from each student at random. Shes not that hard if you can keep up with the work, which shouldnt be that hard since this is an upper level Engineering class. youll hear students complaining shes too subjective and unfair, but usually these are just crys of anger. Listen to what she says and say it right back at her and youll be fine. The project is a little tough though, you have to basically do it from scratch which is a bit annoying Grade Received: B-

If you want to see hell on earth than take her, if you want a challenge than take her, if you never see a C in your life you will in her class, if you never chanted a professor name at night, her name would be the only one you are chanting. Don't think that you want a challenge, but know that you want a challenge, and prepare to fail your challenge. If you never stay up all night study, she will makes you. Here is a tip read the book, read the notes, read the handout (a lot), read everything, oh one more READ. Grade Received: D

You'll have to work in her classes. She's not as bad as everyone says. Plan on taking notes and learning the material on your own. Be sure to make friends to study with. Constant quizes are a pain, but it makes you study a little everyday. The tests are not unreasonable, just hard. Accept that a C+ as a good grade for her. Grade Received: B

DON'T TAKE HER. Wait for a quater if you have to. She will be very nice the first week as you wont be thinking of dropping her. She asks you to too many things and difficult as well. She doesn't teach much and she doesn't know much either. She would tell you a story about buying a house for his friend, we called her HOME RACKER. Trust me, honest dont take her. We are all planning to complain about her.

The class is hard but very interesting. You might want to concentrate on your lecture notes and make sure you understand the material before the next meeting. You will have two case studies to complete, in a group of two. You also have one assigned topic to present in front of the class. Her grading Policy: Homework, quizzes, and class participation 20%; Case studies 20%; Midterm exam 30%; Final exam 30%. She doesn't use class curve. 90-100% is A; 80-89%, B; 70-79%, C; 60-69%, D. There is not much homework for this class, but don't worry the two projects will keep you busy till the quarter ends.
