Pros: -Easy A
-Very nice
-Shows some cool clips in class
Cons: -The most boring class I have ever taken
-Gives way too much homework
-Felt like this class was a waste of time
-Did not learn much
This class has to be one of the most boring classes I have ever taken. Not only is the information incredibly bland, her voice made me extremely sleepy. It was a mission and a half trying to stay awake during this class, especially since it was at 8 in the morning. She also gives a ton of homework which is due the Wednesday after it is assigned. The homework is split up into pieces amongst our groups. One the day it is due, she has to discuss with our groups what we did for homework, and then assigns work for the group to finish alongside the discussions. All in all though, it was a very easy class. Besides the boredom and the amount of work assigned the class was very easy. She gives study quides which have every question to be expected on the midterm excepted reworded. I pretty much studied the night before the midterm by looking over the questions and answering them in my head. The final was just the same as the midterms. They exams consist of about 10-15 true/false questions, 40-50 multiple choice, and the remainder are vocabulary words and/or a map with mix and match options. Although the second midterm was quite difficult compared to the first midterm, if one studies for it just a little they will do fine. I recommend her only for those looking for an A. But if you want to learn look elsewhere. I can honestly say that she did not teach me anything new herself. Grade received: A

Pros: Very nice and helpful
Exam questions are MOSTLY from the study guide given before the exam
Easy grader
Loves the subject
Very well-informed about the topic
Gives study guide before midterms and final
All classwork and homework assignments are easy to complete
Cons: Becomes upset if people do not participate in class (Participating is not difficult.
Frequent homework (Homeworks are easy although they can be time consuming)
Information might be difficult to remember during tests (Study session and reviewing before the test is highly recommended)
If you procrastinate during a movie/video in class, you will have a hard time with completing the assignments related to the film
Professor Rachele is a very nice, kind, easy, and an understanding teacher. If I could take her again for a class, I would. She is one of my all-time favorite teachers in CPP.
She is a very easy grader. Just follow her instructions and templates for the assignment.

This class is an easy A.
Her midterm and final exam questions are multiple choice and are straight off of the study guide. The lecture is really boring and makes you fall asleep. She has a term paper which can be a bitch but get a head start on it because it's almost 20% of your grade. Final is not cumulative:)
Also, attendance counts towards participation points so show up to class. She puts up films on random days and makes you write a paper on it. The paper is worth at least 10 points.

Pros: -Very nice professor
- work is pretty simple
- Allows one late assignment with no penalty.
Cons: - 8-10 pg research paper
- tests are very detail oriented.
- most homework seems like busy work but very specific details are in the exams.
You will absolutely need the textbook. All the homework comes from outlining articles in the text. The exams are based mostly on the articles. Not a whole lot of lectures, but the few she does are very informative. They will get posted after she has lectured on the material. Take notes on movies shown in class. You will be responsible for that information as well.

Pros: Dr. Rachele is a great teacher. I found the subject material interesting and I thought she did good presenting it.
The homework includes 4 articles assignments where you have to read various things from the book and online. The project is a little time consuming because you have to so your family tree but in the end the project ended up being pretty cool.

There is homework due every other week. It's time consuming but simple. Her tests are pretty easy specially with the study guides she gives. The ethnography is very simple. If i could take her again I definitely would it is crucial for you to attend every class because she does give participation points. Need to be in class before 8:05 when homework is due or it is consider late.

Easy to fall asleep in her class
Take Professor Rachele. Her class is really easy. The quizzes are full credit for taking them and she gives full credit on her homework as long as you do what she asks. Her midterm and final are extremely easy-do the study guide. You don't really need the book except to answer questions from the study guide, most of which can be googled. She gives a lot of extra credit and is very understanding. I got an A and slept through her whole class.

Pros: straightforward homework, tests are multiple choice. Study guides are given out and questions from guide are on tests. Kindred chart (family tree) is actually very simple. Lectures are available on blackboard DOWNLOAD IMMEDIATELY BEFORE CLASS
Cons: lots of writing. will wait a while for questions to be answered. will get angry and do pop quizzes if no one answers. All students must be enthusiastic do not fall asleep.
since she goes through power-points very fast print out her lectures they're usually posted the day before class. She has about 4 versions for each lecture so don't be surprised if hers seems a bit different just save some room on your printed version to write on. Her study guides are very thorough. Be sure to start them immediately as soon as they're given. ANSWER ALL THE QUESTIONS.1 midterm 1 final. Both created the same way. Keep all homework assignments. Assignments are papers based off an article book. Very short papers. but they must be thorough. Keep flash drive with all papers in case you need to edit them.

Professor Rachele is a very nice Professor. Her ANT 350 class can be challenging, but as long as you do the readings and homework you should be fine. She provides a study guide which really helps. Once again, if you do what you are supposed to do you should easily get a B. I was able to get a A in the class.

This class is a piece of cake. DO THE STUDY GUIDE. All exam questions are off of the study guide. Make sure you do every question, and go to her office hours to get the answers to the ones not mentioned in the book or powerpoint. Buying the book is optional. You only use it to look up answers to her study guides. This was an easy class, but NOT as much fun as I had hoped. Grade Received: A

She's a super sweet lady, which makes her very approachable. The work load she gives out is pretty reasonable considering that this is an upper division class. There's 2 midterms and 1 final. Each week she has students "outline" a chapter of the book (which is super boring to read). It not even a real outline. You basically include terms that you're unfamiliar with, figure out the theme of the chapter, point out 3 subsections to summarize and come up with a question for, evaluate the effectiveness of the chapter and a connection to your reading. It's a quick and easy assignment for 10 points. Most people don't even read the chapter. She also requires a paper and a group presentation on a certain biome/culture. One thing I really didn't like about her class is that she's unorganized. For her study guides, it looks like she just copy and pastes directly from her powerpoint. And not to mention that her powerpoints aren't even helpful. Her powerpoints will either be super wordy or super short with just one word on it. A lot of the material covered in the powerpoints aren't even on the test. Test seems to be more out of the book, which is usually never discussed in class. To get a good grade in her class, make sure you're ready to study on your own. But if you go through her study guide and answer everything, you're bound to get at least a B+ on her test.

professor rachele made this class very interesting, especially for me not having any idea what i had got myself into when i registered for this class. you take lots of notes, weekly hw assignments that are easy, a group presentation which isnt too bad, you definately have to read the book, do the study guides and pay attention in class and you should be okay. shes a sweet lady, with plenty of knowledge in this class. i would definately recommend this class and would love to have her as my professor again. Very nice professor. Knows what she is talking about and is very easy to understand. Couple 2-3 (3 MAX) page papers here and there but it really isn't anything to stress about, VERY easy. Couple of videos, most of which usually comes with writing a paper about it. 2 midterms (non-cumulative) and a final (cumulative). Basically do ALL the study guides for each midterm and final and you will get AT LEAST a B in the class. KEEP ALL STUDY GUIDES until after final. Overall, very easy class. Grade Received: A-

Very easy class. She likes people who talk and are friendly. Attend class...sometimes she has you watch movies then the next class session an essay is due, so if you didn't come to class that day, you won't know. First midterm was easy if you study, second midterm was more challenging. There are about 5-6 single and a half space two page papers on videos you watch in class. Every Wednesday there are homework assignments due from the reading that you discuss with your groups. Overall it was an easy class, and the professor is really nice. She understands that this is a GE and we are required to take this class so as long as you learned something, she is happy. Grade Received: A

This is the third class I've had with Dr. Rachele. She really knows a lot about social anthropology and social relations. The tests were a little on the hard side but it is an upper division class. There was a group project and paper about a tribe of your chosing, a midterm and a final, and some assignments in between such as 1-2 page write-ups of movies which were easy. She gives opportunities for extra credit. There are two books we used in class, one is just on tribes and one is on lecture-type material. About every other week she assigned a tribe and we had to write an outline about the chapter in the book and fill out a worksheet in groups. It was pretty easy. She's very nice as long as you treat her with respect and pay attention in class. Grade Received: A

This teacher was the most challenging during my Spring 07 quarter as the class was basically teaching the class through powerpoints, submitting weekly assignments using the book, and watching movies here and then. She was weird as she would make the whole class confused on when assignments were due. Her grading was a bit weird, docking off points for dumb mistakes. Her weekly assignments were easy, just show like you took some effort into your work and she'll give you a 5 or maybe a 6 if it extended to numerous pages. Movie days were the worst as you would sit down and take down notes and turn in a review the next day or the following week. The class is basically watching your peers teach you individual chapters assigned to them every week. The tests are then made from what they said during their lecture. I ended up doing all the extra credit assignments, doing one assignment where my friend and I thought it was extra credit but it wasn't, but we still got extra points for that and turning in the weekly assignments. I got a D ish on the first test, and I guess doing well on the final as I got a B for a final grade. The final is like matching, multiple choice, and an essay. Make sure you do the essay, I think that's where you get the most brownie points. I would avoid this teacher though. Grade Received: B

Mrs. Rachele is by far the worst teacher I have ever taken here at Cal Poly. She does not know the material or even teaches. I had to learn every thing by myself. Her tests are very hard and for the most part follow the book word to word, but the book is a very hard read. Her study guides do not match the test at all, so it does not help at all. I'm not sure why the others are saying good things about her. I'm a 3.7 GPA student, but had to work my ass off to get the grade I did. She made us watch movies which were made at least 20 years ago. I do not want to be unkind ...Mrs. Rachele is very nice, but I do not think her health is the best and that too could play a role. If you are not an ANT major please look for another G.E. This class was presented kind of weird. We had group discussions, and divided up chapters of our book. This was difficult because we had to fully explain our chapters to our group members so they could know the material for the midterms and final. She's really nice and if you sit in the front of the class she'll talk to you and get to know you. Also, she gives out REALLY GOOD study guides for the exams which basically have all the questions on them. You also watch a lot of movies and there are some papers due on the movies. It was a good class, I really enjoyed it. Grade Received: A

She is a very nice teacher. I really reccomend taking her. The class can be challenging at times, but the subject isn't horribly disinteresting. She also gives plenty of extra credit, getting an a is not difficult at all. She assigns a short two page papers on reading material or videos almost weekly, but they're quick and almost always gives full credit. She does take role, and much of her midterm and final are based on lecture notes. She gives a very thorough study guide before each exam. It's not imperative to buy the book either, but it definitly helps if you're not one to take good notes. Grade Received: A
