I took Math 114 for the second time with Piamonte after failing the first time. Compared to my other professor, Piamonte did a great job. His tests are extremely fair. All the question on them are questions you've seen before from homework, in class examples or exit problems. If you attend class regularly and try to get a good grade, you'll receive one. I really liked being in his class and i hate math since i'm not particularly good at it. I ended up with a C+ but i could of definitely got an A or a B if i studied just a little more for the midterms.

Pros: He's very helpful and willing to answer any questions. He has a sense of humor. He is good about making sure everyone understands the material. He curves tests when people don't do too well.
Cons: He gives 1-4 homework assignments a week depending on how quick he moves through the material. His accent is difficult to understand sometimes, but it is not awful.
I would recommend taking him. Grade Received: A-

I took Piamonte for MAT214,215 and 224 and I have to say he's one of the best professors I have taken at Cal Poly Pomona. He explains math in a way that makes the subject easy to understand. His class structure is simple do the homework and the study guides and you'll be set for the exams. On top of that you get to use any calculator and a half-page cheat sheet. Take this man, you won't regret it. Grade Received: A-

Piamonte is really good for both MAT214 and 215. His lectures are clear and easy to follow, he basically introduces the theory and then does problems. The homework is like the tests, which he gives 2 one on the 5th and 9th week. The final exam is midterm 1 and 2 plus chapter 17. The material isn't too hard and its actually very interesting. Take Piamonte for as many math class that you can, he is very nice and he is willing to help out the students until they understand the material. Grade Received: B

Pros: -Easy Tests
-Good lectures
Cons: -Boring voice
Piamonte is a really laid back professor. He just comes to class and gets right into lecture. He lectures for the whole class time and when he finishes early he gives an exit quiz. The subject is very easy, but extremely boring. I wasn't into the class, so I did poorly on the 1st midterm. I studied hard and almost got a perfect on it. The tests are basically mirror images of the study guide, actually a bit easier. The final was harder then the midterms, but he gave us the option to pick 5 out of the 6 problems. I could've gotten a perfect, but he threw a random application problem that had to do with resistors. I guess I did ok on it since I ended up getting a B in the class. I would definitely recommend him

Pros: Covers the material very well, and the class expectations are outlined very clearly. Homework is pretty much all odd problems, and directly inline with the taught material.
Cons: Too good to be true?
Along with Malakar, I really like Piamonte, and I definitely had concerns going into the class. Talking to Malakar after 214 he said that the requirements to 215 are difficult to fit into the time frame, but the class never felt rushed, and he covered everything he said he was going to. It's important to understand your basic integrations and derivatives, because he'll expect you to know that. You won't have to go into difficult integrations like multiple iterations of integration by parts, or more than a couple trig substitutions. In fact you'll probably learn some easier techniques for integrating. I guess if you were a math major you might want a teacher with some more demanding problems, but I thought it was a great class.

Pros: very straightforward

I don't know if I can say much, since I skipped a lot of classes (only stayed for lecture once a week) and turned up at the end to turn in homework. This professor is clear with his lesson plan (you might get lucky and skip a section at the end of the quarter) and he is pretty clear in his explanations. If he doesn't have a good answer to a question, he'll answer it better during his office hours.

He's very good at teaching. He also explains things very well. The tests aren't too hard. There are 2 midterms and one final. Homework is due every week, but he is very lenient with it. I think its mostly graded on completion points. He's also very nice. He lets you out of class around 20-30 minutes early. You also get to do test correction for one midterm. Choose wisely. The only thing I didn't like was that the final was pretty difficult compared to the midterms. He has office hours and he does help you if you go to him. I received a B+. Had an A before the final though :/

Pros: Really good at explaining the steps of the problem.
Cons: He really does not give a shit.
He is a cool guy but, he really does not care about the class or you. This is not the class for the slacker. Your there are only 4 grades in the class which are homework, test 1, test 2, and the final. So it is kinda tough but, if you are dedicated, you will do fine. He is really good compared to other stats teachers, so I say take him if you have a choice. I was scared shitless for stats and I got an A.

Pros: This guy knows his STATS
Very friendly and helpful
Flexible about homework
Cons: Goes a bit fast during lecture
If you want a C in this class, all you have to do is show up everyday, do all your homework on time and do mediocre in your exams.
All his exams are write-out, but he is not a harsh grader at all. If you have the process correct but just made mistakes on the algebra then he will give you partial points.
He can go a bit fast in his lectures but if you raise your hand and ask he will gladly slow down.

I was really scared coming into Mat 224 because I know several people that have failed it and even some who have failed it multiple times. If you take piamonte, you do all your homework and you study for at least 8 hours before each test you will get an A. He has a very generous curve and grading style, but wont hand you a grade you dont havent proven yourself to deserve. his teaching style is write the definition from the book, but then he says 'this is all you have to do', cuz if you try to learn this material from the book you will not understand it. he is very nice and will help you during office hours but not about a specific hw problem instead he will show you a similar problem. I took him for 114 and 115, received A and B, respectively. He teaches fast and writes on the board even faster. You will learn a lot. He does say "Questions?" a lot, but you'll get used to it. His grading method is very nice.

My favorite math teacher that I have ever had, by far. His notes are all broken down and color coordinated so they are easy to follow. He gives you plenty of opportunity to ask any question you may have and he will go over them in class for you, if not at his office hours. His tests are very fair also. Grade Received: A

He is a very good and fair teacher. His class was fairly easy compared to the last math class I had, but that was because my last teacher was very demanding. Piamonte is not a cake walk, you still have to do your homework and study to get a very good grade. But I don't see how any one can fail his class, you'd have to be pretty stupid or lazy to straight up fail. I had a 94 and a 96 on both midterms, however I didn't study that much for the final and the chapter 17 concepts pretty much ruined my solid A thus why I got an A-. (But that was my fault)
Overall good teacher, I would take him again if I had the chance. I'd say he's my second favorite math teacher at CPP Grade Received: A-

Pretty straight up and down to earth guy. He covered alot of topics and had very thorough lectures. Sometimes they seemed long, but thats the nature of Diff Eq's, its not meant to be fun. He was very helpful and will not turn down any question. He makes sure everybody understands prior to moving on. Gives very good review and answers any and all questions prior to exams. His tests covered every important topic covered in class and were straightforward, not hard but not easy. Assigns and collects homework, 2 Midterms and a Final. No complaints here. I would highly recommend him for any math class. Very reasonable approach to teaching and very knowledgeable man. Grade Received: A-

Professor Piamonte was quite a good guy. He would ask if we had any questions like 20 times in one class. He is a little fast but if you take down the notes, you should do fine. Don't be afraid to go to him for help during his office hours, which sometimes can be very helpful. Homework is super easy and all he does is check it to make sure you at least tried to do it, but sometimes he gives you quite a bit to do. All in all, he is a great teacher, and anyone would be glad to have him.
P.S. Even though he might sound boring, pay attention and read the bonus question at the end of his test very carefully. Grade Received: B

All in all, hes a great teacher. Very fast paced too, miss one class or start daydreaming and you'll be left scratching your head. Although it may be the material, and isnt it always like that in math classes? Well the only gripe I have with Piamonte is how many times he says "Questions?" He must say that 75 times minimum per class. But, I've got to admit as annoying as that is, it does give an opportunity for a student to actually ask one if he/she has one at that point in time. Now, the midterms are easier than you'd expect. Homework 10%. The final isn't as easy because of its length, but it's very doable. The only reason I didn't get an A is because I missed a week in school, and got lazy and didnt do half the hw. my fault, i admit it 100% Grade Received: C+

[This is actually for STA120] He lectures for the entire period and his notes are basically everything written in the book. I never took notes, and just taught myself from the book. Stats is a lot of memorization, so his exams are pretty hard. For the length of time we were given, I felt that his tests consisted of too many problems, and therefore I felt rushed most of the time. He collects homework everyday, but will usually accept late hw; He's pretty nice about that. He is available for anyone who wants extra help, and always answers questions to the best of his ability. He curves his tests(!!!), which will help you out tremendously. Take him! Grade Received: B+

First off, I am absolutely horrible at math. Secondly, I haven't had a good math teacher in forever, so I basically had to relearn everything in this class. Piamonte is an excellent teacher; he understands that the students in math 12 are there because they don't understand math and he geniunely wants to help. I have learned so much from him because he writes out great and understandable notes for the class , goes over any homework problems you didn't understand, and goes over review/test/quiz problems. I have never understood math as much as I do right now, and I think that is because Piamonte knows how to teach. If you understand math better by writing out how to do it first and then learning by examples and like relaxed classes, this is the class for you. I don't know what my grade is yet, either an A or a B, but I figured with registration coming up soon people needed to know he was a good teacher.
