Pros: It's a fun class because you get to interact with his dogs.
all assignments are group work.
Cons: 2 tests.
He's not as willing to help like other professors.
He's a nice guy! But the class is kind of on there own. When I went to ask him a question he basically shunned me and told me go ask someone else smh. It was kind of confusing for me because I suck at math but there's a lot of information that he goes over and he goes over it fast! His tests aren't too bad, but you must know everything and the final is cumulative.

not sure if he curves. i dont think he does.... This class is taught with Rash. Foster teaches the first half then Rash teaches the second part. i wish Foster taught the whole class. he gives you study questions to answer and are pretty much what you see in his quizzes and midterm. Easy lectures with good information. Doesnt answer questions that great but hes a hell of a lot better than Rash. study more for Rash's section which is harder since shes so unorganized. STUDY STUDY and you'll get an A!

Pros: Modules are pretty clear in information.
Cons: Disorganized and unclear.
Projects are barely relevant to clinical nutrition. Most is self learning and teaching. Lots of class time wasted on group projects. "Extra Credit" is not available to everyone, its on Blackboard and is a first come first serve basis. Half of the time the questions say they are unavailable anyway. What is expected isn't clear (as per usual).

Pros: Interesting Lectures
Good class activies and worksheets
Cons: A bit disorganized
Despite what people had told me going into this class, I thought he was a really nice guy will to answer your questions. He is very knowledgable and his lectures I found interesting. He is a bit disorganized but will try and help if you ask. His quizzes werent too bad..i stressed for no reason. His midterm is reasonable and final is a but tougher but doable.
I found this class fun for the most part.

this class wasnt took bad except when it came to the calculations which can get confusing if you dont understand them. he gives weekly quizes which helps you know what he is looking for when it comes to the test they usually have five questions, the first midterm i did okay on but he gives the test back in class to go over and he uses some of the same questions on the final so i wrote down all the questions i got wrong so i would know the right answers for the final, he would cancel class a few times, we didnt have to do that project about dog food cause we didnt have time, so before the final i had a high c+ so i studied for two days and i ended up with a B. on the final he had alot of math problems so i think that helped my grade on the test and he had multiple choice for the other half of the test.

For avs 101 there are alot of quizes he gives out which have a few math problems and then actual questions that are short answer, quizes are not to bad just have to study and make sure u read them completely. the midterm was hard because didnt really know what to study but stuff from the midterm is on the final so copy it down when he gives the midterm back, he does objectives for every chapter so do those cause they help alot for quizes, we didnt have to do that pet food project, basically i studied for three days for the final and ended up with a B and alot of people i know didnt to do well in this class, just make sure u know the math parts and u will do fine Grade Received: B

DO NOT. DO NOT TAKE HIM FOR AVS350. for one, you use a human anatomy book. secondly, he DOESNT TEACH! you literally meet in class for like 30 mins and discuss in groups a certain topic from a random chapter. third, he makes you feel stupid when you ask a question and half the time his answer DOESNT help. the way he teaches this, might as well be an online class. all the quizzes are online so you have to buy the online code. just do yourself a favor and DO NOT TAKE HIM! You use a human anatomy book! He doesn't relate it to animals in the lectures which are about 20 minutes if that. He teaches only once a week because he is lazy and doesn't want to teach any more than that. You have to study your butt off to get a decent grade in this class because each quiz is 5 questions and goes over 3 detailed chapters. The midterm is over 9 chapters and he WILL NOT tell you what to focus on. The information could have been interesting IF he actually taught the class. Tips: the questions from the first 2 midterms are on the final but he focuses mainly on the last 3 chapters and STUDY, STUDY, STUDY!!! Grade Received: B

It is true that he taught out of a human anatomy book but he helped to connect the information to animal anatomy in the labs. So long as you do your reading and do the online quizzes (you get 3 chances for each quiz which is very generous) you'll do fine. He will definitely help you when you ask him to explain something. Be sure to write down anything he draws on the board such as nerve or EKG diagrams (he loves those 2). I studied regularly and enjoyed what I learned. Grade Received: A

He's horrible. He cancelled class meetings, so u have to teach urself everything. he won't tell u what to focus on for the exams. Don't even bother asking him anything because he doesn't know the answer. So, the best way to get an A in his class is to cheat... literally. u can study a lot and still get a C in his class. please, do not get too excited before attending his class, because u will not learn ANYTHING about animals. P.S. he uses a human anatomy book

Lecture consists of weekly quizzes, 1 midterm, & 1 final. He drops the lowest quiz score, doesn't take attendance, and all of his notes are on Blackboard. No calculators allowed. STUDY the objectives but only about 65% consists of objectives. He isn't the most friendly, but there are far more intimidating professors. He doesn't give you back the questions on the midterm so write them down when you go over them in class cause they will be on the final. Also, he gives a pop quiz on the 1st day of class. He says that if you fail the quiz, you should probably drop the class. I get test anxiety, completely failed the quiz, but aced the class. STUDY HARD and you'll be okay regardless of how well you do on the pop quiz. Overall, not a difficult class but very easy to fail if you don't do a reasonable amount of studying. Grade Received: A

Dr.Foster is the greatest teacher! He is super nice!! At times he might make you feel like you know nothing about the class but for the most part hes great! He gives you notes but they are all on blackboard!! so its great! you can basically go to class with a print out of your notes! He quizzes almost every week but the quizzes are about 2 equations and 3 fill in the blank! ITS SUPPER EAZY! all you have to do is read the notes! the mideterms are kinda hard IF you dont study! If you take notes and listen and STUDY! you will pass this class. Unlike myself.. i didnt study there for i failed! OHHHH and there is a research paper in this class BUT you have all quarter to work on it =)

Make sure to study his notesfor all quizzes. The final exam and midterm exam are pretty much the same. The lab part was alright you just do a lot of problem solving during the lab. A couple of times there were field tripsin substitution of the lab. Grade Received: B

Great teacher! Powerpoints and documents are all on blackboard. He posts objectives for each section so you know exactly what to study. He pretty much reads directly off the powerpoints and doesn't add much to it unless you ask. No homework. Frequent quizzes(drop the lowest), a midterm and a final(scantron). No homework in lab, but a research paper. A midterm and a final. Reading word for word from a powerpoint can be boring but at least his voice isn't monotone. He's a really nice guy.

Great teacher! Knows his stuff. Goes onto tangents with his lectures at times, but overall is pretty straightforward. If you go to class, almost guaranteed A. Easy tests, if you pay attention. Very friendly, and will help anytime he can. Grade Received: A

Dr Foster is a really nice guy, but not good at teaching. If you don't understand something, don't ask him!! he won't know your answer so you are better off just finding out the answer yourself. He is smart, but only if you ask him questions about cats! the man loves cats! good luck with his class. Very challenging and you must study in order to even pass. He did give lots of extra points on the tests so that is great!

Like the others said, he's really disorganized and not very good at explaining the material. He IS a nice guy and willing to answer questions, but you have to know what to ask and how to ask it. If you don't get a straight answer the first time try asking a different way. His notes on the chalkboard are really hard to read a times, so if something doesn't look right you need to ask for clarification. He's taken classes in teaching so he likes to throw in 'fun' activities that generally waste class time- like having everyone stand up and introduce themself or working in groups on a problem (most of the time the class couldn't even figure out what he wanted us to do in these groups). On tests he likes to be tricky with questions, but he usually tell you in lecture which topics he'll do this on. Tests are cumulative and questions do repeat themselves, so it pays to study you last exam before the next one.

Dr. Foster is a horrible professor!!! He is soooooooo disorganized!!! I don't know why he decided to teach, he is boring, sloppy, and flaky. He has you fill out a damn index card that he will use to call on people later and poor you if you don't know the answer to his questions!!! His exams are multiple choice, short answer, and short essay. You also have to do a review paper which is the only easy thing about the class. He grades on a straight percentage scale so if you do bad on one exam, it will be difficult to get an A. I would recommend someone else but anyone in pre-vet is screwed because he is the only main professor that teaches this class!!! Good Luck!!!!!!!

You have to be ready to talk in class. That is the only way to get him to clearify what he is trying to say. If you get him to repeat it enough by asking him questions or restating what he just said, then you will be able to understand him better. His tests are hard but the trick is to memorize then try to understand the information. Sometimes what you got wrong on the last test will be in the next one. Be careful and go slowing when taking his tests. With some lucky you will do fine, like I did.

Foster is the one of the worst professors I've ever had. His lectures are hard to follow, his handwriting hard to read on the chalkboard and very disorganized. He calls on students for answers. His tests are very very hard and he doesn't explain concepts well. I had a very hard time in that class, and I learned a lot more from the book.
