Dr. Powers is a great teacher. She was always willing to help us before, during, or after class. The game is a bit challenging. Some groups were on top of it early and pulled ahead. We were usually in the middle with some horrible days, but I still managed to pull of an A. The term paper can be a lot, but what really helped us out was going to see her when she offers to see students. She gave us great tips and told us what she wanted more of. Ended up getting an A, when most who did not see her did not do as well. Our group was good. We were composed of only 2 majors, but as long as someone can work on the numbers, then you should be okay. We met up once a week for a few hours. Which was not fun, but at least we did not have to rush in the end. Overall, a good class and great teacher!

 Pros: Great professor.
If you do the reading and actually do the practice game will help to be prepared for the real game. The midterm and final consist of the reading material of the book, although is online it can be challenging. If u can do it with your group. Grade Received B

 Pros: very friendly and knowledgeable about the subject. online quizzes can be taken 3 times but the answers are shown after 1st trial ;)
get on with the excel worksheet by the 1st week and make sure everyone in the group do the same, then reward will be shown

 Professor Powers is very nice and straightforward. When she lectures, she emphasizes main points and doesn't overwhelm students and she's more than happy to offer help whenever needed. This class should not be too challenging as long as you have a basic understanding of business logistics. Creating spreadsheets can be a bit challenging if you're not too familiar with Excel though.  I recommend taking this class with professor Powers. The class is pretty easy, it consists of playing a simulation game, and a research paper (which turned out to be pretty easy). I was expecting to get B in the class because my group and I did not do that well on the the simulation game--turns out that by the time we got a good grasp of the whole game, the other teams had pulled ahead (some of them by luck). lol But yes... take this class, it is easy and I think it helps you get a better picture of the different functions of the various divisions in a corporation.  Her knowledge of the material makes this class a easy joke. I took this class before with Shariff-Mansour-Zadeh and I failed all tests because I didn't understand the topics. Once she explained it, it was as clear as daylight. Grade Received: B

 my first review on this site. Just an awesome teacher, deserves nothing else. Probably the most caring teacher I've met at cal poly. She will help you and tell you don't hesitate to ask if there are any problems or things you need clarification on. We played BUSPOG and my group was number 1. It helps to pick people from different majors, everyone has something to contribute.

 Well, this class was a hybrid which means you only have to go to school once or twice a week, which is awesome. To top that off, the professor is also awesome and a great teacher. The only reason I got a B+ was because I slacked off at the end of the quarter. Grade Received: B+

 great lady. the class was a ball (i was blessed with an awesome group!) people had been freaking me out bout this class, but it's one of the most fun classes if not the 'funnest' i've ever taken at cal poly. you get to tie in all ur business core classes. we played a BUS-POG (go to the class and u'll know what I'm talking bout). the game was fun as we compete with other people in the class. just pray u get a great group of people and that's makes things so much easier. helps to have different people of different majors. Dr. Powers was real helpful in everything, wen we didn't understand som' she helped us individually and made sure we got it. most of the quarter we met once a week, which i loved. there is a midterm, make sure you read the book, at the very least, the key terms of the book (it's not just knowing what stuff means, at the very least, read the paragraph around the key word. she gives plenty of time to get ready for it, so do! my group came in second and we were real close to first. bottom line: great class, great professor! definitely would recommend her Grade Received: A

 She's a real straight forward teacher...the class consisted of some online assignments, online quizzes which were open book and you can take it as many times as you wanted, and a midterm&final...She's realistic and really approachable...I'm going to try to get her for my upper level mhr classes...she HIGHLY recommended...GET HER!!!

 She is fairly young, so she understands how flexible class scheduling and a reasonable amount of coursework can help college students. She is easy to talk to. The majority of the class is group work, so get partners that you can communicate well with. Do well on the early assignments because this will help you with your business plan. The presentations are interesting. Grade Received: B+

 Great teacher. Lectures for about 10 minutes and then gives you the rest of the time to work with your group on the game. Only problem is that she doesn't really give instructions or explain clearly about the game. You better get teammates who are knowlege in accounting, finance, and most important is someone who knows how to create a spreadsheet. There are no midterm or finals but there is a 12 page research paper to replace the midterm. Pretty easy, just let Dr. Powers proof read the paper before you turn in the final copy. In addition, there is a short project (presentation) that each groups need to do. Very simple, 15 mins but most groups get away with a 5 min presentation. Can be done a day before the actual presentation. Overall, the game can be tough but the class is easy. Grade Received: A-

 This professor is great. She goes out of her way to make sure you understand the material and is great on giving advice during class and during her office hours. Her material does relate to the course and she is flexible in a lot of the stuff that is turned in. If you play your part she will be fair. She is also very understanding and she wants you to understand what you are doing. There were a couple assignments done and then a big group project. If you do the work you will get a fair grade overall. I HIGHLY recommend taking her. Grade Received: B+

 Mrs. Powers is an AWESOME teacher who loves and cares about her students. She offers to help all the time, literally! She'll be in her office hours whenever she's not teaching class and she'll even insist students to call her cell phone whenever needed! She is very knowledgable of the subject but most of the course work is based on group work. So FIND STUDENTS THAT DO THEIR WORK! There are projects and some solo assignments due but those are easy.
