Cons: You are recorded during the exam and you may get marked down if you do not scan your testing are well enough to show you are not going to cheat.
The class is very informative and one can learn skills that will last a life time when it comes to stress and how it affects the body. I really learned a lot and the work is doable. I took 4 classes and this was one of the fun ones and it did not stress me out. However, be diligent and do all the work.
Cons: Lots of busy work, but what do you expect from an online course.
This class really helped me learn how to cope with and deal with stress. It can be very beneficial to someone if the time is put into it. There are no projects but there is HW weekly, but only collected in the middle of the quarter and again at the end. It seems like a heavy load when looking at the syllabus, but it isn't too bad. There is no text, but you do need to purchase access to the online lectures. I think it was around $45. The lecture slides can be interesting and her voice is not monotone so that helps a lot. There is a midterm and final both multiple choice taken through an online proctor and ask questions straight from the study questions provided. Overall great class. I would recommend to take to fill GE, but you got to put the time aside every week, otherwise it is easy to fall behind.
Cons: You have two Stress Journals (1 for the first 5 weeks, and 1 for the last 5 weeks). A Proctoring Company films you as your are taking the exam so if you take this online course make sure to have a webcam on your computer.
KIN 370 is a very interesting class and you learn a lot. It is a lot of work and it is a little weird being filmed during the exams but otherwise this a very good class. You have two stress journals and make sure to turn them in NO LATER THAN THE TIME SHE DESIGNATES!!! She will NOT do ANY extension or take ANY excuse as to why you didn't submit your journal. If you do not submit your journal you will NOT pass the class because the two stress journals are worth 200 points out of the total 300 pts for the class (100 pts for the midterm and final). You are also required to submit each week on discussion board your assignment that you did for your stress journal. She will explain all of this to you at the beginning of the quarter. I would take Dr. Fish again because as long as you follow her directions you will succeed in the class. Grade: A
Cons: how we take the exams
The only problem I had with this BS class was the exams, which puts too much stress on you because they monitor you through webcam and if someone walks in during exams, they will deduct point,if someone makes noise, points off, if you look somewhere else other than your screen, points off, REALLY? Every time I emailed the professor or the co-instructor, they gave attitude. I just hate my self why I spent too much time on this stupid GE class and finally got B- because of the exams.
Cons: A lot of busy work.
Easy homework, but a good quantity of it to keep up on. I had two midterms, and I took it online. The midterms had this odd online proctoring tool that uses your microphone and webcam, and it costs $12.95 per exam. Being a computer guy with interesting tools, the proctoring tool was a pain to deal with. My out of pocket cost was $20 for a DVD at the bookstore. Other than that, this class really gave me some good ideas for alleviating stress.
Grade Received: A-
Cons: Proctored Exams
Overall, my experience with Professor Fish was extremely pleasant. She responds very quickly to emails and provides a lot of detailed instructions in her syllabus so you have a clear idea of what she expects for the assignments. Honestly, the work in her class might seem like a lot of work but it's EASY work. It's like writing in a diary. She doesn't want any facts, just YOUR thoughts. I finished the entire assignment template in one day.
My biggest tip is that you stay on top of the videos to fill out your study guide so you don't have to watch all the videos right before the exam. If you put even a mediocre amount of effort into finding the answers to the study guide and memorizing it, you WILL get an A.
Cons: Everything else.
I really didn't like this class at ALL. Thing is, its not even Dr. Fish's fault. Theres nothing she really did to make it a terrible class, it just is. Its a complete waste of time with so much busy work it made me want to rip my hair out. I could never get over all quarter how my most stressful class of the quarter was a stress management class.
Cons: Ridiculous. If you ever have questions , do not ask her. She is not understanding and gives you a condescending attitude for that. She is not willing to go out of her way to help you. Most of all, it just seems like she doesn't care.
We all choose online classes for the convenience. For some reason my midterm was at 5 pm even though I had a class scheduled until 5. I emailed her about this situation but she never responded, forcing me to skip class since it was across campus. After taking the test, you get your score right after and that's that. BUT she will make you retake exams if the exam had weird symbols even though this was not your fault, making it incredibly inconvenient for everyone and rendering your efforts from the last exam useless even though you had to go through the inconvenience of skipping class to take it.
Cons: the class can be boring if you dont like the content.
Cons: TOO MUCH BUSY WORK
SHE TRIES TO TRICK YOU WITH HER TESTS
HER TESTS DON'T CORRELATE WITH THE TIME SHE GIVES
I COULDN'T WAIT TO FINISH THIS CLASS! She gets on my nerves! She requires soo much bitch work for no reason! Every week she requires you to do a coping technique/relaxation technique & write about it, and then write about 5 stressors every week (it's annoying). When it comes to her tests (I had her for hybrid) we convinced her to take the test in class since we didn't want to pay for some creep to look at us. The 1st midterm was on 15 chapters worth of material & you had 30 min to answer 30 questions. Her test was ridiculous which ALOT of us complained about, her questions were like a couple of sentences long and same with the answer choices. After her test she tells us that there was more than 2 answers for some of the questions -___- She enjoys tricking students, because a lot of the answers will sound the same. She told us she was going to be more careful for the final which was on 11 chapters worth of material but she ended up doing the same thing and she also tested us on things that she didn't talk about in the lecture. Anyways so many people complained about the midterm & final that she gave us 5 points extra credit. I got a A+ in the class..but she's just really annoying so be aware I don't recommend her
online
Cons: Dont forget to turn in hw every friday online
Extremely easy class as long as you keep up with your weekly assignments you will get an A for sure. The final has nothing to do with weekly assignments but she does give a study guide and its everything that is in her lectures. Grade Received: A
tests are based word for word on study guide
she is a very reasonable professor, and the class is basically diary writing, if you are comfortable looking at yourself and your behavior then its very very easy. each week you write 150 words in response to a quote from the book you choose to read, 600 words in response to discussion questions in the book, a couple of sentences about what stressed you out the most this week, and then there are relaxation techniques on a CD your espond to one each weeka nd say how much it did or did not help, and then there is "coping techniques" which vary each week and you respond to that as well, all of it is due friday, once you get into the swing of things its superrrr easy!! the tests are based word for word on the study guide, so please for your own sake fill it out so you dont have to worry about the time constraint!
