I started my career as an editor at Southeast Asia Globe magazine, a current affairs monthly that covered Southeast Asia. From there I went freelance, where I wrote for newspapers and magazines in the U.S., Hong Kong, Australia and elsewhere, covering everything from the environment to politics to art and culture.
