Mr. Sato's class is the best. He remembers every student's name and face in his classes. I love coming into his class and learning. If you come early or on time, you get to listen to timeless music. Sometimes the class gets to pick. The class NEVER drags on. It does not matter what time you take his class, it will not be boring. We can tell that Mr. T's Lessons are well thought out and well put together. He has an organize PowerPoint, 80s video clips examples, and sometimes even an anecdote that's always topic-related. He does not have a humdrum tone. Although notes are on the PowerPoint, Mr. Sato lectures key concepts to each point. We take a quick break almost towards the end of class- stretching and breathing exercise. Mr. T's reading material is not at all expensive, which I and a lot of other students are very grateful for. Therefore, I honestly suggest you read/skim the scheduled chapters before the lecture. Based on the two courses I took with Mr. T, the workload was not at all overbearing or too much. I personally struggle with the exam, due to medical reasoning. However, his exams are not impossible. His exams are mostly concepts, definitions, applying, and examples. For online learning, instead of exams ( Covid), we did more short multiple-choice timed quizzes ( questions were kind of made up similar to the chapter). whenever I took the test online I was more focused or be worried about time runs out until time ran out. Face to Face learning, the exam is paper-based multiple choice and may have a short answer. You have the whole class to finish it. During the first week of class, Mr. Sato usually has all the course exam study guide in D2L. or before the lesson starts. I suggest- No, I'm telling you to use that as one of your checklists/guides. Before Covid, there was a "No electronics" Policy in class. I really appreciate this policy. I forgot the Attendance policy, but you don't really want to miss Sato's Class. ( Miss the song of the day, miss the detailed vocal lecture notes and you have to copy it from a class) If you are trying in Mr. T's class, he's not just going to fail you. Mr. Sato Is very helpful. Do not feel too embarrassed to ask for help. Set an appointment for office hours or pop in during open office hours. Even if you do not know what to ask, just show up and explain where you lost track. He will definitely help you. Mr. Sato also gives students the opportunity to earn extra credit ( Mindfulness event, Psychology event, and more). I can definitely say that a professor like Mr. Sato is hard to find. I am lucky to have had the opportunity to learn from him. I can still recall most - if not all of Mr. Sato's key Lessons plan from the classes I took. Even after the class, I am able to apply some of the concepts and recognize them on my own. Personally, I have also use the newfound knowledge for personal growth, as a form of reflection, and share the little I have learned with others. Mr. Sato is indeed an excellent teacher. We are lucky to have him here at Ship.
