Seriously the worst professor I have ever studied! She has a very unclear class policy that deducts points if you exceed the word limit, but her syllabus does not mention it. Her feedbacks are very late, and instructions are very vague. However, she provides very detailed answers (of course takes her two days to reply) if you ask her additional questions. So, make sure you always ask questions about assignments to understand her expectations but be prepared for passive-aggressive, rude and late replies. Her grading is highly harsh and impossible to understand. She even takes points on very objective and personal subjects because she does not like your opinions. Many times I wondered if she grades students when she is high!!! I was able to bear her class for five weeks, and after receiving an impolite response to my question, I dropped her class which I should have done earlier. Every time I logged in to the student portal, I had tachycardia and anxiety. I have not learned anything from her class. She is so arrogant and has no motivation for student success. I highly recommend you drop her class if you are assigned to her. The reviews are at the rate my professor website and in this platform are beyond real!!! Save your sanity!!!

Worst professor I have ever studied under. I have had some hard professors in my time of undergrad, but they always had a good reason: because they wanted their students to really grasp the concepts of what they were teaching. Professor Rice is none of those things that I mentioned. She’s extremely specific (only after you turn something in), and will grade insanely harsh. She has no motivation to ensure that her students are learning, she enjoys the power trip of being able to take 20 points off an essay because you forgot a comma. She should be in no role of being a professor. She is unprofessional, with her passive aggressive feedback, and I seriously could not stand that class. Every time I opened up GCU, a part of me died the entire time I was enrolled in that class.

I had this professor for one of my graduate classes in healthcare administration. She was difficult to get ahold of when I had a question until I complained to my student services counselor. She was not always clear on her expectations for assingments. I felt that I could never meet her expectations, which changed often. I have never once in my 6 years of college complained about a professor until I was in her class. I am only sharing this because nothing will change if no one says anything.

One of the worst experience I have had at GCU was dealing with this professor. The grading system that she uses does not make any sense and I wish I would have dropped the class from day 1.

I've had great experiences with other professors at GCU. But Karen Rice is by far the worst instructor I've ever encountered. She is VERY condescending in her replies, her feedback is often mean-spirited, and her grading is weird. She gave me a grade of 6.66 and this is a Christian university.

Professor Rice should make sure you have at least one paper do over, and GCU should consider reading all of the comments here and on rate my professor and get rid of Karen Rice.

I have read the comments here as well as on the Rate My Professor site, and I feel so much better knowing that I am not crazy! I have had eight weeks of agony in Karen Rice' business class, and knowing that I will fail due to her mean spirit and dishonest opinions makes me very angry. The students that have commented here an on the other site I mentioned have very similar complaints about Professor Rice, which should tell GCU these comments are true, and they should not keep her! I intend on fighting this failure, I am a good student and I do not intend to allow her to bully me. When you ask questions and await the answer or reach out in any way and feel desperate, she will take two days to answer, and tells you in her reply that I need to read the GCU guidelines because she has two days to answer! But, she knows that by not answering it will be too late. As online students, you are out there alone, you cannot just walk up to the professor and ask a question, nor can you get help from other students. It is not good that at GCU there are no resources in situations like this when you have a very unhelpful professor!

DOES NOT SET HER STUDENTS UP FOR SUCCESS. SHE IS BY FAR, THE WORST INSTRUCTOR IN MY ENTIRE ACADEMIC CAREER. PLEASE AVOID HER AT ALL COST IF YOU WANT TO SUCCEED.
