Rambles on a good deal, to the degree that you wonder what class you’re in. Very stream-of-consciousness lectures which may work for some but for undergrad students can be very confusing. Needless to say, despite lots of reading and fine course material,, this class sorely lacks direction and clarity. | |
DO NOT TAKE any courses with this professor! I was excited to take this course because of the reading list; I love Asian lit and Had heard good things about this class. But it’s only going to be a positive experience if you buy into his precious theories. Don’t expect him to respond to emails - at all - and don’t expect to succeed in his class if you don’t agree with his rather dogmatic ideas about race and gender. Tough grader, but feels like a very “personal” grader as well. As in, if he likes you, you get an A and if he doesn’t, if you challenged him in any way, forget about it. Avoid! |
