Cons: Nothing. The class itself is already hard.
I would have pulled out an A if it hadn't been for the final. Do the multiple choice questions on the past finals, and you should be well-prepared for this part of his tests.
Cons: Grades homework extremely hard.
Absolutely zero curve.
Tests are very easy to do poorly on.
He enjoys teaching, and does a good job of providing examples in class. However, there is a lot of material to cover, and he goes through it all, but doesn't get that it's extremely hard to remember the massive amount of material. Half of his test is multiple choice with no partial credit, which makes failure very easy. Two missed multiple results in an entire letter grade being dropped. I'd recommend taking this class with a more forgiving professor.
He grades you on a scale from 60-69, 70-79, 80-89, 90-100. and gives you a +,-, or neutral letter, based on his perception on you. Basically be active in class, go to office hours, and get him to like you, and an 80 will now be a B+. (I got a 90-91 and he gave me an A, that's huge).
He answers questions of relevance, and goes over every problem in depth.
He gives bonus points at the end of the year for an in class assignment where you get +6 points on your final and a random test. Also your final exam grade replaces test 1 or 2's grade. So it counts for 40% of your grade if it is higher than test 1 or 2 (20% for each test of the 3 tests, 20% for the final, 20% for homework).
Tests are graded out of 106 and he cuts off the points at the end. So if you get a 80/106, you get an 80% instead of a 75%.
His office hours, he may seem unenthused, but that's just the way he seems. he is really helpful.
Cons: HOLY SHIT IS HE HARD.
Homeworks are assigned when he feels like it, so you have to check scholar frequently, and they are incredibly hard, and he grades them really hard (expect a 10/15-12/15 as a good homework grade). I missed a negative sign at the beginning of a problem, and he gave me a 1/5 for that problem. The homework is useful though because it is somewhat like the tests.
The test problems are super difficult and he grades super hard.
All the other teachers are a lot easier.
Basically if you want to learn, take his class. IF YOU WANT AN A DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS.

Several Variable Calculus: This man should not be allowed to teach. He spends the whole class going over the theory and somehow still manages to not explain it well. The textbook is equally vague. Then, on the homework, you are faced with problems that weren't covered at all in class, and it is graded very harshly. The same goes for the tests. If you ask for help, he just says to "apply the theory", as if that means anything. Useless. Do not, under any circumstances, take this class with this teacher.
Cons: This class has been the most stressful class I have taken at Tech thus far. I work really hard on all the homework and I understand all of the concept fairly well. I understand everything that he goes over in class, and I study pretty hard before the tests as well, but for some reason getting a good grade on his tests is nearly impossible. I don't understand why he needs to make the test so difficult. He does not show any interest in the class. I went to talk to him during office hours about my grade and he basically laughed at me for struggling, no joke. I have heard that other professors are a lot better. My roommate had someone named ufferman, and their class would get to do practice problems for extra points on the test. He also got practice tests to work on and then their actually test would be about 50% identical to the practice test. Bartleby on the other hand just sucks. His tests are extremely hard and he expects you to know all the concepts in depth. His tests will have problems that you have never seen before on hws or in class.
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. I don't care how good you think you are with calculus. I love math and math has always been the class I have had to struggle the least but this prof will make multi-variable hell for you. My thanksgiving break has also been ruined because I am currently trying to study for our last test/final trying to pull of a C in this class, while everyone else I know is enjoying their break

Cons: Worst professor I've had by far. Homework isn't as hard as everyone makes it out to be, but he makes it extremely hard with how he grades it. The tests are sadistically difficult, almost hilariously so. After we received the first test back, I looked around and realized that everyone was scoring in the 30-60 range and then he proceeded to tell us why it is our fault that we all failed it, not even once considering that it's his fault since he made the exam. He has an absolutely grating personality in class and answers questions in a condescending manner.
I have no idea how this guy is still teaching here since everyone else seems to have had the same experience as me. My theory is that he had excruciatingly cruel teacher in undergrad for Multi and projects that experience onto us. Well, he succeeds at that. Switch as soon as you can if you get him, I wish I had known how horrible is when I could have switched.

Professor Ordonez is the only teacher at VT that I've disliked as a person thus far. After our first test, which was unbelievably difficult, I realized based on talking to others in my class that the average was somewhere around 35-40%. Professor Ordonez got in front of the class and preceded to explain why it was a fair test and why a curve was not justified. In reality, he packed the tests with ridiculously difficult questions that were nothing like what he taught us in class, or assigned in the homework.
He gets irritated easily at questions in class, and never takes responsibility for his students poor grades, blaming them when in reality everybody in the class does poorly because he is a bad teacher.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS
2) One of the 3 tests can be replaced by the Final (which is hard), and I think he curved the final grades about 2-3 points. He allowed us to do an extra credit project to earn up to 8 pts on one of the exams. I heard that something like 25% of the class was failing, so even with extra credit don't think he's not a hard grader.
Cons: 1) Can't teach. Doesn't seem to have any concept of what makes a good instructor.
2) Exam averages are around 60-65, and are not curved. Its a difficult class no matter who's teaching it, but he's much harder. I got 97-99s in Calc I-II, Linear and Vector, and found them to be really easy, but struggled to get a B in his class. Almost every Koofer from other profs on this site was easier than his exams.
3) Writes really, really small on the board.
He's smart and definitely knows the material, but either he's not smart enough to know how to teach, or he doesn't care. I never had any interaction with him, but he seemed pretty rude from what I saw. Every email he sent out seemed slightly condescending and in class he seemed annoyed by questions. So maybe his lack of teaching skills is more based on him not caring. I don't think I ever saw him smile once. Since he shows no enthusiasm, he makes the class very boring (and I like math, and think multivariable is an interesting subject).
His idea of teaching is this: dryly read out the notes and solve the problems. He doesn't give much explanation of why particular steps are done. He almost never points out certain key things to remember. A good teacher will say something like "When you're doing this type of problem, make sure to do this and then do that, because...". That sort of thing is really helpful. He needs to read a book on education, because he doesn't seem to understand it at all. A good professor *simplifies* things at first and kind of explains it in the most basic terms, like you're five years old, and then builds upon it. See any Khan Academy video and you'll know what I mean. He doesn't do any of that. If you get stuck w/ Delgado, form a study group and watch some YouTube videos (MIT has some good lectures), and do a lot of practice problems.
Bottom Line: He has such a low rating for a reason. Definitely avoid him, he's the worst teacher I've had at VT, and its a challenging subject. The combination doesn't lead to great outcomes.

Bartleby straight up failed 25% of my class and blamed the students for not learning the material. Also, the homeworks were super hard and graded with precision. If HW is your saving grace in a class, do not take it with Bartleby. Hardest class I've ever taken at Virginia Tech in all of my years.

Cons: Hard to understand.
Bartleby is difficult to understand at times, and his lectures are often boring enough to make you drift away from learning. Tests aren't bad, but if you make a mistake at the beginning of the problem and complete the problem correctly with your bad numbers, be prepared to lose most, if not all points on the problem, which may be up to 20% of the test.
Curves at the end of the semester in addition to replacing your lowest test grade with the final exam grade

Grades the homework pretty hard
Ordonez-Delgado is a young professor who seems like he's in the process of getting his teaching swag; you'll have to pay attention to his lectures and do your best to understand everything on the homework to do well. That's what I did, and I got an A in his class with ease. People who didn't pay attention in class and/or didn't put forth the effort to understand the concepts he taught did not fare as well.

Cons: Tests are extremely difficult. Homework is very hard. He has an accent and says some English words in a manner that you don't know what he is talking about. Handwriting is messy and moves quickly. He knows what he is doing but can't put it in plain enough terms or explain it well enough.
